Under Sheldon Keefe as the head coach, upper management allowed the Core-4 plus Morgan Reilly to play offensively and their regular seasons were very successful as they were more talented than the majority of the rest of the watered down NFL. With taskmaster Craig Chief Berube who preaches defense first play, the aforementioned players make a conscious effort to check and check and their offense suffers. The proof of the pudding will what will happen in Rounds 1 and 2 of the playoffs. Should they lose to the Senators because they couldn’t score, will GM Brad Treliving continue Berube’s system for the length of Berube’s contract and there’s no playoff success? What do Leafs fans want? Gun and shoot under Keefe producing an exciting brand of hockey or Berube’s snoozefest hockey?

Do we need to worry how the Leafs are playing? Been watching Leaf’s since there last Stanley Cup in 67 n This year with Berube being coach and I’m totally baffled n confused, I don’t even know if there make the playoffs n if they do are they going to Wind up in 3rd place in the standings and wind up playing Florida or Boston and choke as usual.

Trust me when I tell you this but unfortunately the best thing for this team is to miss the playoffs. This will reset things instead of just stringing along the fans.

Craig Berube is using his inaugural season as the Leafs’s head coach to change the mindset of the Core-4 plus Morgan Rielly to play the 200 ft defense first style that defined Berube’s playing career. Not matching Sheldon Keefe’s sterling regular season success doesn’t concern Berube. When his team consistently wins 3-2, 2-1 and 1-0 games and the goals allowed drop, he will have done his job well. The danger is that offensively adept players may forget how to score just like Jacques Lemaire and Guy Carbonneau.
