Going Rambo on the exhaust. I like to hear my exhaust so I can tell how the engine is feeling about what I'm am doing. Lenny is feeling pretty spunky these days. You get a turbo we're gunna needs some gears. Starting to get a little bit hotrod bus going here.

Did any of the GM buses 80 or older have power other than Detroit? With trucking companies they often wanted their favored (or familiar) powerplants but I only see Detroits in the ones you feature.

Hello,let me save you some grief. I speak from personal experience. Either wrap some tape around the bitter end where the wiper arm touches the glass,or remove and store the arm. Just the movement of the vehicle at speed can cause the arm to work a divot in the glass. Not always,but it is just not worth the risk. Enjoy your bus get together without regretting you should have done this. Cheers.

fart cannon + 4-valve head upgrade. other than the big turbo upgrade the next step would be to get rid of the oil bath air cleaners which are very restrictive.

I was chatting with Larry from National Bus Trader at BusCon. He talked about training drivers in silver sides back in the day and only passing them if they could complete a downshift in a turn. Four limbs doing four different things at the same time. You nailed it.

Holy crap Scott I spotted a 4106 in the very tail end of the video here that I drooled over years ago when I didn’t have the $ to buy. It is gold in color and has an eagle painted on the back. PO claimed it had an 8v92. Would love to hear if that’s true, and see a video tour of what it’s like today. Thanks.

I hope some other owners will let you record their buses - I understand interiors might be off limits, but I don't get to see those buses unless I'm watching TCM...BTW, Lenny has righteous reverb when passing those concrete barriers. No Civic w/a "fart can" will EVER sound that good.

Scott... Enjoying the channel so far. I started a 40 year driving career on Detroits, initially on a 238 in a single axle GMC 9500, later on a 318 in an Astro. I am enjoying the memories and the sound, the joy of changing fuel filters on the side of the road @20 Degrees Fahrenheit, before blended fuel,crawling up a hill in 6th gear or sometimes down to the low side on a ten speed with just a 20,000 lb payload. I wish you success and a long life. To that end, why not pretend you have 50 live human beings in your care while driving the bus, and get all that electronic stuff out of your field of view so you can see and identify potential hazardous situations and react quickly. I know you are not a professional driver, but you nevertheless have a bit larger responsibility when driving a larger vehicle like a bus. Have a safe trip.

What few old timers left that are still driving will get an instant stiffy when they hear you pass them on the interstate . They’ll be sitting up in the cab of some smogged out Volvo running a governed 55mph and memories of much better times will make them smile. You should have a 503C status for doing the Lord’s work.

She sounds nice, especially out in the open. But (theres always a but isn't there?) even as someone who won't hesitate to take a street rip with open headers, I could see me turning that exhaust outlet towards the rear to cut down on the wall echo. Lots of good looking buses there!
