Geoff is clearly just deathly afraid of awkward silences, or maybe even silence in general, and so has to fill those moments with words and ideas he thinks of on the spot, for fear of the conversation ending. Maybe it’s down to a traumatic childhood experience. He could have gotten tinnitus like Baby from Baby Driver? Maybe the trauma also fucked with his brain?

I agree I want characters. Jake and amir were characters and sure sometimes they made their characteristics more extreme depending on the video but they were still them. I feel like no one is the straight man and I need a straight man or it makes the wackyness not wacky cause amir is the straight man here but next episode hes also just insane so it wont matter.
@Angels5107 жыл бұрын
In the Geoffrey the dumbass skits Amir and Jake may sometimes get roped into his weird schemes but one or the other is always the straight man and hardly wacky at all. Like I wouldn't consider Amir being interested in jorts as him being one of the wacky characters that episode. You might be thinking of Off Days, where Amir and Jake become the crazy ones
@harrowkay12967 жыл бұрын
Yeah agree, these kind of get just a liiiitle to out there, id like it if they were a little more grounded.

It seems they're avoiding strong characterizations on purpose, and that's probably a good decision. I'm sure the pair were often frustrated by the frequent audience resistance they encountered whenever they tried to tinker with the _Jake and Amir_ format. Both _Geoffrey_ and _Off Days_ (that wonderful love letter to _Hardly Working_ ) are more focused on bits, and it really feels to me like they are (working on) perfecting their established formulas, which they have more freedom to do now that they aren't locked into a narrative arc or burdened with any expectations about character.
