33:03 he talks about adding a bunch of smaller details to the track that aren’t exactly noticeable on the first listen, but some people can really appreciate them the more they listen to the song. It makes the song have more of a staying power because it gives you new things to discover the more you listen to it. I am one of those people! I love when artists put so much work into their songs. It makes them fun to listen to more than once. Instead of just copying and pasting the drop, I love when artists have progressively evolving tracks. One of my favorite artists that does this is Ekcle. Their song Crafted in Ice is like a journey. The song sounds completely different at the beginning than the end.

I like to use presets to begin the structure. once I have the main structure worked out, then, I go about creating sounds to replace the presets and fill in the song.
@ptitbaronnet11 жыл бұрын
yeah but after that you ears are "accustomed" to the presets, and then, when you put your one song, it's sound like shit ^^'
@8-BitHeart7911 жыл бұрын
I don't have that problem...I have more of a problem with keeping the ideas in my head when I start sound design as a starting point. I lose inspiration when I start the mathematics of creating a sound from scratch to make a song. Believe me when I say there are enough presets out there to get yourself close to what inspired you in the first place and make things right after you have the general idea down.
@8-BitHeart7911 жыл бұрын
I understand it fine lol, Ive been using FM synthesis since the 90's. real musicians wright songs on pianos and acoustic guitas all the time...Whats more preset than a piano lol. Even electronic musicians do that. plus I am writing music that comes from the heart not trying to pander to the most popular sounds. I am writing for myself. I prefer to create the soul of the song in the song itself, not within a sound and create the sounds around the song rather than the other way round. What you just said proves how soulless your music is.
@8-BitHeart7911 жыл бұрын
No, you missed my point. I meant while you just go and make a sound for a specific genre of music, pandering to the popular, that is soulless. Letting the song decide the sound however is not because you are writing it from the heart. Sound design is just as much an art form when your not pandering to same crap every time you start a song. One day I migh be making some minimal techno another I may be making a KMFDM style industrial track. I don't pander to genres I make whatever comes out of my head. You cant do that when you have predetermined what sound you intend to use.

@alfaix20734 жыл бұрын
yeah put a compressor after the reverb
@lepureur46574 жыл бұрын
Man you have a lot to learn haha no offense though There are different ways to create that effect, what you're looking for is "sidechain", you have to create a ducking effect, you could kill the reverb for a few ms and make it pop again with a compressor, you can create a volume automation by hand, it's that difficult dont worry, the compressor way is better imo, learn how to trigger an effect with an external signal, that's what sidechain is

What is he talking about at 10:06? He sends it to the side chain of what after the reverb? A compressor?
@1151simon8 жыл бұрын
+dsrecs the sidechain pulls the reverb into or away from the kick (think of it as volume so the reverb is loud then quiet or quiet then loud so the kick or what ever isnt lost in the mix) like you do with melody and bass so it all sounds better as 1 the trigger is what tells it when to do this usually the same kick muted or summat like that lmao
@oatboat37608 жыл бұрын
+dsrecs Synth is sent to a reverb, reverb has a compressor, he sends the dry synth signal to the sidechain of that compressor, so the reverb "ducks" when the synth is played. This way you can have massive reverb without drowning the mix.
