Heading into the Unknown Bears, Moose, and Big Trout! (my first EVER Colorado Fishing Adventure)

Day two out here got a little more real. I rented a car got super lucky because it was the last car in town to rent on that weekend since I was trying to get it till last minute. And what do you know it was a Subaru! Some things just work out perfectly, and this was one of them. I called up the auto shop and they were like we got you covered. We’ll leave the keys in the car just come here whenever $40 a day and I had a car for the next two days so right away. My mind was like OK we’re fishing. We’re not only fishing, but we’re fishing extremely hard. The second I got the car I tucked it right up into the mountains like a 30 minute drive away from where we’re staying found a spot on the map that was super intriguing and a pretty intense like and I started hiking. Prior to that, though I picked up some bear mace because the day before I seen big bears right off the side of the ski mountain and there’s moose poop everywhere on the trail so Definitely a different ball game for my usual New Jersey fish. And that’s what made it so cool I was able to manage my fears and do it smart out here‘s country. Everything is bigger the mountains the animals, the fish. This is only a two hour trip after a full day of skiing and I did a mile and a half to 2 mile plunge down the mountain and a mile and a half a 2 mile run back up the mountain scaling about 1000 vertical feet And put a lot on the line to be honest. I was pretty scared down here cause the sun was setting never been in this place before, theres snow on the ground.  it was intense, but a great send. I’m looking forward for you guys to see the next adventure we get on tomorrow because that one is truly one for the books. This rental car has never seen anything like this and I am happy to say that we did it! These are some memories I will always love. Keep on sending it! Hope you enjoyed Skye life out!

Let it be known that access here is private, and requires a reservation. I know it well and the snobs will yell at you. I don’t care but just stating facts. Also absolutely wild to fish here without a fly rod, in my opinion. Pretty silly to fish any of these rivers with a spinner…you’re gonna get some weird looks for sure
