Heading to College Thanks to Take Stock in Children

A college education can be life-changing--as can the years leading up to it. Orange County's Take Stock in Children program is a community initiative of Valencia College, in Orlando, Florida. Take Stock in Children helps deserving, low-income youth--starting in seventh grade--to stay in school, graduate high school and go on to college. The unique program provides college scholarships, volunteer mentors, early intervention and long-term support. In 2013, the first group of students to join Valencia's program are celebrating their graduations from high school and will each receive a 2+2 Florida Prepaid $30,000 scholarship.
