I have a new version of the song! It's a bit of a better trim, and it's an hour long. Please give it a listen! You may like it better. 10-hour version! kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4Ord4iOjtanZ7M

Who knew traditional Chinese songs can be such bangers.

Yeah, I looked into it after this, so I hope the devs are happy they made part of their culture look amazing. Apparently, actual Chinese people even call it like an obscure, very specific type of folk song music.

iirc this is folk singing from northern shaanxi (shanbei). that's also why they have a Scottish accent, as they have a heavy accent in Chinese

It's a fantastic art form, I'm very glad it exists and continues to be practiced. I heard it's not as well known as we thought it was, but I hope that changes. Who knew a video game could make something so much more famous.

@@kirbycarden That is quite true. It has been mainly a street performance in a relatively small part of China. The population is only about six million across the whole region. The game has definitely brought public interest and revived it.

With everything new that's made, it also makes me wonder what the style they used just BEFORE this got made sounded like. You know, like how new forms of music start from a previous kind. Sometimes, those new types are crazy different.
