Hi you v mentioned that you fitted a led h7 on freelander 2 i was wondering what kid of adapter ring did you use to hold the bulb in place securely it is bit confusing the difference between the adapters if you could do a video it will be useful many thanks

I bought them years ago on ebay. Bulbs were H7 LEDs but yours may be H11, check the text on the headlight front glass. I found these adapters which look the same. I installed those Phillips for the brights and then a set of PIAA HID replacements for the main headlights, and replace the fog lights with HID. Finally redid the LED light bar and additional front fog lights with the mictunning blue accent led lights. The whole set Lights up the world trail riding and living in the rural area Im in.

Are you loosing or gaining brightness/lighting distance with the Philips bulbs? I heard you can lose some brightness with these types of 'white/blue' bulbs

They are working fine and are very bright, and shine a greater distance. No change over time that I have noticed.

@@BeavisPits sounds great. Have you had to replace them yet? If so, how long did they last in the end? Also, was your vision impeded at all by the light these emit when it rained? Sorry for all the questions

They are fine in the rain, but I’ve fitted yellow fogs for heavy rain at night. Lifespan isn’t great...a year tops. Brighter bulbs do seem to fail sooner.

With the Phillip's bulbs you have no issues with extra heat ? Great video as always. Very informative and of interest to many I'm sure. Keep up the great work 👍👍

The Philips Diamondvision bulbs do seem to run fairly hot. My headlight lenses are crazed with small cracks, probably from the heat. I’ll cover this is a video soon.

Used many different types of bulbs in my old freelander 2 but never got the wow factor but in my 13 plate freelander with Xenon that's a major change for the better.

Very helpful video and agree about the LED lights for the main beam. I have a spare pair of H7 LEDs which I would like to fit on my FL2 but the fixing arrangement foxed me. You mentioned adapters from ebay, could you possibly send me the details please? Once again great video! [e-mail]

Thank you for your videos. I installed the H11 Advanced 150% brighter from Halfords. But they're still not good in very dark roads or motorways. Would you install xenon lights? What do you think about them? The book says that I can install D1S on my freelander 2 (2011).

The Philips Diamondvision bulbs are technically not legal for UK roads, however, I’ve been running them for many years and never had a problem with police or MoT. The box says for offroad use only, but most of the extreme brightness bulbs in Halfords say the same. The bulbs are 55W, white light and are not LEDs so do not contravene any of the lighting regulations. I’ll be revisiting the whole bulb topic in an upcoming video soon.

I have installed LED headlight bulbs in my 2001 Golf because I drive regularly at night especially when it’s raining and I want to see better at night and proper white colour. However, I used to run LEDs in reflector lamp designed for halogens and I should know better I should not be using them!😂 So, I swapped my original headlamps to projector style headlights so they won’t be any light scatter all over the place and not dazzling anyone if I use them in reflector headlamp!😊

That was lucky. If the beam pattern is ok then you may be fine. The rules do clearly say it is a fail for retro fit LEDs. This covers main too, but testers are less fussy about the beam pattern on those. I’ve had LED mains for years without any issues.

@@BeavisPits same on xenon HID bulbs too, it’s normally on “existing halogen headlamp units on vehicles after 1st April 1986 must not be converted to be used with LED or HID bulbs. If such conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp” if the beam patterns correct then you might get away with it and the alignment is correct so it should pass. I don’t know if that law on retrofitting HID or LED bulbs in the halogen housings has been outlawed but don’t be honest me on that one. I can see why people do it but some people install them incorrectly or don’t know how to align their headlamps which is why they must fail the MOT… I think you can get away with LED in main beam but it’s all down to the tester who wants to fail if they want to but I’d say it’s annoying😒 I’d have LED indicators but I need to have resistors or it will flash really quick or an error message come up on the dashboard. Then I had brake lights in LED again I had a resistor in, reversing lights, number plate lights and sidelights in white with slight tinge of blue like 6500k colour. But over n all, it passed 2 MOTs with LEDs all around the car! Again, never had had any trouble with the tester or never had any trouble getting pulled over!😊

@@BeavisPits I’m sure that you know projectors are more brighter and focus more light and even leaves a very clear cutoff line and those are less likely to dazzle others while reflectors are more likely to dazzle and less focus the light. Hope it makes sense to you?
