I did all that with a kit years ago. My Smart Car headlight lens became cloudy again. This time I was ready with Aim toothpaste. It cost about 88 cents at Walmart. The cheap non- whitening Aim. I used paper towels and a little water and scrubbing. Then wipe off with wet paper towels. Takes less than five minutes per side. Now I just use Aim. I saw it done on youtube years ago. I showed it to an elderly couple at our Church, because their old grey van needed it. The next Sunday, they told me how easy it was and thanked me.

This method of toothpaste is quite ridiculous?? It can't remove serious oxidation or clearcoat, Anyone who can afford to run a car these days can well afford a full restoration kit and do it properly!!!

That looks really nice. I recently did my own headlights but stopped sanding at 2500 I then polished and sprayed a clear coat. My lights turned out really nice. I was wondering if applying a clear coat after the 5k sanding and polishing is a good idea ?

@@serranosmobile thank you. I’ve only had three customers and it’s been a long time since I’ve focused on this. Most I got was $150. I have a posting on OfferUp and it’s amazing that wit my starting price of $75, so many ask for like $40 job or aren’t willing to spend near the starting point. I was asking a potential customer simple need to know questions and he told me I’m asking too much I’ll go somewhere else. Lol seriously? Idk I’ve had trouble in my market. For me to many unnecessary sanding steps, You didn't raise the the the hood first?? Which indicates you haven't had much in the way of experience in headlight restoration? I strongly recommend 3M heavy duty restoration kit only three sanding steps first and second are dry sanding the third p3000 trizact is wet, Clean lens with any glass cleaner and dry, Apply a proper headlight polish and buff until the lens as good clarity, Only then apply a certified clearcoat like Maguires with added uv protection, Making sure you spray the lens in the shade and not in direct sunlight, Start at the top and 5-7inch away from the lens in one continuous spray overlapping by 30% One coat is all that's needed, It drys in less than 5min's, The oxidation is caused from the sun, Falling to carry out last procedure oxidation will return sooner than you think, Hope my recommendation helps! 🙂🇬🇧👍
