Great tip, I have some old headphones that have way too long a cord for most purposes, I will make a modular cord with this approach, then I can use shorter or longer cords depending on which room I'm in.

Thanks! If there had been room in the headphone, I would have used a "Chassis mount" jack and mounted it inside the can, but these were pretty small!

Sure, it would translate exactly to the new 1/4" plug. In fact, I'm surprised so many upscale headphones make the standard plug 1/8"!
