Subscribed. Great content. As a newbie to the world of headphones, I need help with deciding between a planar magnetic driver vs dynamic driver headphones. I own an Edifier Stax Spirit S3 Headphone (closed-back Planar Magnetic Driver) and a Master and Dynamic MW75 Headphone (dynamic driver). I do notice the planar being tight and providing slightly better separation of instruments in complex songs. I do have a dumb question as a layman. What are the genres suitable for Planar Magnetic Headphones and what are the genres suitable for Dynamic driver Headphones? I feel Classic, and songs with a lot of instruments (complex) would sound better on Planar Magnetic. I feel Hip Hop and bass-heavy songs would sound better on Dynamic Driver. Is that correct? Can you please let me know what genres are suitable for what drivers here?

I'd say that it is not so much about genres being favorable for one or the other but even more general than that. It's really just certain nuances of timbre, speed, imaging, and a feeling of perceived size/scale. I've heard planars (Meze Empyrean/Elite and Dan Clark Expanse) that slam on hip hop bass, I've heard dynamics that layer and separate instruments superbly (Focal Utopia 2022 and Sennheiser HD 800 S).
