Ordered an Nux mg30 from this gentleman. Due to a huge shipping bottleneck in L.B Ca it’s taking forever but this awesome dude has patiently been responding to my messages and keeping me updated. If you’re looking to purchase some pedals etc buy it from him! Great seller that seems to actually care! Awesome head to head vid btw!

I bought both of these units at the same time. Kept both for about 3 weeks really digging into them. The NUX went back. It's a great unit but I was able to get much better amp sounds out of the MX-5 overall. It just sounded fuller. I tried my own favorite IR's in both. With your own IR's, both sound better than what this video does but I understand why you didn't load any for the comparison. Well done video though.

I like both , great units , I like the interface on the Hesdrush but the NuX 30 is about $200’ cheaper brand new that’s a huge difference and if you buy it used that’s a great deal , I don’t thing you can go wrong with either

thanks for the video comparison. both sound good. they each took turns with which had better tone. I think your choice of using a hollow body guitar was clever for this price bracket - although the mx5 has a bit of a price jump

Considering MX5. AxeFX and Quad Cortex are both great, but both are $$$, and I would probably never use half of the stuff on those. In a live situation, I wonder if I could use my BabyBomb pedal as the power amp and go right into a 1x12 or 2x12 cab. I wonder what others are doing? Also, have these amps & fx been updated since the original AVID versions, or are they the same sounds as they were in the Eleven Rack? Thanks!

I purchased the MX5 a few weeks ago. I was very disappointed in the standard presets. Based on that I almost returned it. I have had a lot more time with it now and am getting some really great tones (tones that really shouldn't be in a box of this size and this price.) While it's not perfect (none of them are) it contains all of the elements to craft your own great user presets. If Headrush would have taken a bit longer to dial in some better tones I think it would be creating a much bigger rave.

Agreed. Stock presets are really creepy((... But with the third party impulses and general tweaking it becomes a good work machine for studio or live use. Also highly recommended choptones presets, they really put your mx5 to the new level
@vintagev8muscle7213 жыл бұрын
Yeah most of the factory presets are garbage Nu-metal tones that you can get just about anywhere. I considered returning the HR Gigboard that I just got last week but the more I play around with the interface the better it sounds. Try the *4 cable method* (4cm) if you’re going through a real amp. I’m really loving it now. And the Headrush’s interface is so nice. I passed on the MX5 because that 4” screen is too small and a few other options that only the Gigboard has but the MX-5 is still an amazing value for the price.

I think a comparison should make with the same amps, same pedals,same drive, volume and eq parameters on each amp and pedals. Any way thanks for the video.
@ThePedalGuy3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I agree that would be a bit more ideal but I felt for this go around I would try to find similar ‘ish’ sounding presets, play approximately the same lick or chords and let you decide which one you like.
@ArcanumA3 жыл бұрын
Yes! And the same knob values on both units don't mean that all those parameters are actually the same :) Actually, it's very hard to make a proper comparison. BTW cabs in MX5 are commonly very harsh. At least the same IR should be used on both units. Alternatively, stock IRs in MX5 can be used instead of the CAB block. Stock IRs have some EQ with much more fuller sound. They don't sound harsh and no hi cut is needed.
@scottwhitlow84683 жыл бұрын
I agree. I was watching to see if that happened. It would be good to have a part 3 maybe with the same exact amp and settings perhaps? It would be worthwhile. Thanks!

I do not think factory presets sound that good on many of the modeling amps and modeling amp floor units including desktop ones,i have or had the Line 6 spider I,II,III, Pod HD,Marshall code 25 and 50,Peavey Vypyr 30,75W,Fender mustang I,V,Fender G-dec 3,Digitech GNX3.I had to tweak all of the factory presets to sound good on almost all of these units,you have to tweak for example a Plexi amp model to sound what you think sounds like a plexi for the MX5 and MX30 and maybe use the same or other IR for each of these units to get them sounding closer to a plexi and closer in comparison to any amp models you are comparing to each other.
