I had the GE200 and I think these little modelers are really great alternatives to people who can't afford anything past the sub $300 mark. I graduated to the HX Stomp and feel like my tones got significantly better, but the GE200 will always have a place in my heart since it got me through a lot whenever I had bad days and just wanted to play around with as many sounds as possible and let my creativity flow. Gave me years of great memories. Awesome review.

I think with all the modelers out there, they are all similar except interface and i/o- puts. ( some better at one thing or another). Price determines some quality of sound and outputs but not interface. Kemper, Helix, Fractal =$$$ Hotone, Mooer, Nu-x, etc $$ With the modeling community nowdays you can achieve fairly decent sounds on almost unit with enough tinkering. Get something in your budget with an interface you can work with and connectivity for the task you will use it for. Thanks Taylor for this preview. Can't wait for your shootout and tone videos!!✌

Hey Taylor. Just picked this up for an acoustic board build I'm doing for some Acoustic duo gigs we have coming up next year and would love to see how this unit can be used with acoustic guitars
Hi. Can Nux mg30 use it 3 foot switches for select patch 1,2,3? Or can the additional 2 foot switchs connect to the unit and use it to select a patch? Or this unit just can only switch bank up/bank down?

cool little unit! sounds mostly great! "Die" VH4 basically means "The" VH4, but they used the wrong determiner. The masculine of The is Der, and the feminine is Die. But an amp is masculine in German... they just wanted to be "edgy" :P

One thing I realize about Nux modeller after trying my friend mg 300, that Nux amp and tone is like prepared to be just good right out of the box, almost artificially good to me, it's hard to adapt to the easy tone dialing while I like the raw amp tone in my Zoom modeller, it feels satisfying when you dial good tone in it, but at the same time I want to try Nux so it's a dilemma lol

Hard metal tone doesn't give any information about what the unit does, sorry. You can buy $10 cheapest distortion pedal plug to the PA directly, you can get almost the same result. Clean tone and slightly tube overdrive tone kind tones are needed to be explored. Also chorus reverb all other functions.

All of the modelers and plugins out there could lead to some serious options paralysis. That said, it seems like you really have to work to find gear that isn’t useable now. Also, this unit looks very mooer inspired in its physical design, but it seems like some design cannibalism is inevitable in the world of modelers

@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
I’m sure there is. The stock presets are CT - , which I’m assuming means choptones. But yeah it’s weird that it’s the 1st thing you hear when you load it up
@lennert1233 жыл бұрын
Different youtubers and guitar players were be asking by Nux to build 4 presets for this unit. Chop Tones so Chop tones was involved. The IR used by this preset is just built-in the Unit. edit: I see in the newest firmware update 2.3 that Choptones using his own IR's in the preset. But you can't select these IR's for your own sounds with the unit. Maybe you can reuse them by using the QuickTone software editor. (haven't test this)
@aptfx3 жыл бұрын
You can just export them in Quicktone and then use load them in the IR collection to use them anywhere
@aptfx3 жыл бұрын
… btw also checkout the ones by Leon Todd (LT presets). I personally use York Audio IRS with the device and those sound incredibly good

if you a/b it against the 300 you will be surprised. I did it with a buddy's we found out that the 300 was actually a bit better.
@TaylorDanley3 жыл бұрын
We shall see. I remember the mg300 being really impressive, and this sounds small and boxy in my first impression (unless you use the choptones IR) so 🤷
@aptfx3 жыл бұрын
The MG-30 is a bit bright with many guitars and the default presets compared to the stock MG-300. There are quite a few ways to correct this: You can change the pre-eq in the global settings. You can change the output eq in global settings. You can use the eq Block. I think one reason could be that the device is also meant to be used for bass - so the defaults might be something like a lowest common denominator. The power amp sim of the MG-300 is fixed while the one in the MG-30 is more complete. This also means there sometimes is a bigger non-linear effect using the amp master knob - depending on the model. if you take the time to set it up correctly it does sound better than the MG-300 (more dynamic, less compressed) Besides the Choptones there are also some other good third party IRs (e.g. from Leon Todd) in some presets. One difference to the MG-300 is the quite low latency of 2ms.
@aptfx3 жыл бұрын
Did it too for a week with both units. The MG-300 is by default quite a bit darker and more compressed. There is a vid of Jimmy Lin which uses the original MG-300 IRs in the MG-30 and compares them side by side quite analytic. The MG-30 comes out significantly better there
@TheDVM13 жыл бұрын
@@aptfx I dunno check out Emir Bucio's review and a couple Helmut Shatner's reviews... Just about every review I find plus my own experience puts the 300 above the 30 for pure tone. The 30 def has a better construction and more tonal options, better quality timing effects but over all tone still goes to the 300. Def not worth the price difference in my opinion.
@aptfx3 жыл бұрын
Helmut Shatners review was in favor to the MG-30 actually. He made a mistake in one video where many people jumped at drawing conclusions. I had both units in parallel for a while so I don’t draw this out of my ass. Most people just quickly dialed in the same tones they had from the MG-300 and with that being significantly darker and more compressed it was to bright on the MG-30. Jimmy Lin did take the time for a real solid comparison with even the same IRs. Just look at his video. I had exactly the same difference with my two units. People are just to quick to draw conclusions nowadays - it’s a pity
