I only play at home and a year ago I tried a headrush pedalboard for a week and as it was my first experieince with a multi-effects unit I had trouble getting sounds I liked. When comparing other units (Fractal/Line 6/Kemper/Hotone) this is by far the easiest to use! I can always play my favorite pedals in the effects loop. You convinced me to give this unit another try.

Awesome! Downloaded these. Thanks. Any tips/advice on getting good tone xlr out to FOH? The difference between headphones and live into FOH or frfr108 is staggering.
@forthecreator13 жыл бұрын
That is indeed a challenge! I put a pair of FRFR108 on chairs (to remove the half space bass boost), then turned them up to stage volume and tweaked all my rigs to sound good. tip: do this when your family is not home :) . I don't use Global EQ, I tweak by adjusting tone knobs on the amp model, changing mics on the cab or swapping out IRs. On Saturday I showed up early to soundcheck and listened to all my rigs from the audience area in front of the sound system. Turns out the FRFR108s played loud at home, were a good representation of what they sounded like in the PA. Lastly, I tried a few different headphones/in ear monitors til I found which ones sounded good with those setting. eg. Sony MDR7506 were a little too bright, Blue MoFi sounded good, Ultimate Ears Live in-ear monitors sounded great.
@scottorama20023 жыл бұрын
@@forthecreator1 Thanks again! I ended up changing the settings and volume using the cranked FRFR108 off the floor (scared the crap out of the dog) and buying the KZ AS10s in ears. Solved many of the issues. Now I have one last question. I tend to get way more distortion/gain than you are on my guitars. I have a Les Paul (so duh, that will crank more gain naturally) but even out of single coil Ibanez and a single/double PRS. I run my guitar's volume between 5 and 7 and dial tone back a bit. Any other recommendations to reduce the gain? With the LP my gain sound is more hard-rock than worship with this rig.
@forthecreator13 жыл бұрын
@@scottorama2002 Sounds like you've made some excellent progress sorting it all out. Regarding gain: I run the gain high, and indeed use a hard rock tone for worship. But I also use a lot of pick dynamics to move between cleanish and dirty, sometimes within a phrase. I have always played this way but apparently I'm not the only one. Tim Pierce Guitar on Youttube explains (and demonstrates) it better than I can.

How do you make this sound match the level of the backing track or band? Do you adjust the output level, master volume, or something else. Thank you for what you do.
@forthecreator13 жыл бұрын
I put the band on one stereo track in Ableton Live, then record guitar on a separate stereo track. I can then adjust the balance between them later, after I'm done playing.

@@forthecreator1 Thank you for the response. That makes better sense on why it sounds so well blended. When I use this patch in Church, am I to rely on the sound person to mix the signal while we are playing? What is your advice. Thank you again for sharing.
@forthecreator13 жыл бұрын
@@stevecollins6922 Yes, in most churches there is a sound person who will balance the levels between the various instruments/singers. As long as you have a way to hear yourself (monitor of some kind), the sound person can make the band mix sound good for the people sitting out front

I’m sure you get asked this a lot. But is a headrush worth it? Meaning, I have an entire pedalboard full of effects, but if I get a headrush, I would get rid of my pedals and I don’t want to regret it in the end if that makes sense.
@forthecreator14 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, I am very slow to buy gear, but once I've bought something I never sell it. So I still have my other FX and amps etc. Having said that, I have literally not used the other gear since I got the Headrush. It is so much more convenient to have one item in a backpack rather than a whole bunch of gear. Also, the HR is way more flexible: There is no way I would ever be dragging a Matchless, a Soldano a Plexi and a Bogner to a gig (or even owning more than one or two of those)...but with HR I use those those four amps to get tones I couldn't afford to get in real life. So for me, it was definitely worth it.

I play predominantly acoustic electric, but from time to time I go full electric. In your opinion, would this pedalboard work for an acoustic electric as good as it does for a full electric?

Is it easy to ‘lift’ the cabinet modeling so each rig can be played either direct or through an amp?

@forthecreator14 жыл бұрын
I have heard people playing Headrush in every musical style and it always sounds great. As you can see from my videos, it is very much suitable for playing worship music. As far as I am aware, Headrush can not load Helix presets, and Helix can not load Headrush presets.
@Han4144 жыл бұрын
@@forthecreator1 I like your presets..But i think some of the presets i heard in helix are more delay reverby (try search Helix worship presets) I was just wondering if you can come closer to those sounds with you're headrush. @forthecreator14 жыл бұрын
@@Han414 I think you're right: In the two videos you linked, the guitar is a lot louder than the track, so the delay and reverb is more obvious (making it sound more lush). In any case, Headrush can certainly give you tones similar to those videos.

@@forthecreator1thank you for your reply, I've also been using the Headrush for over 2 years. I have a successful band in Charleston where I play 70's smooth rock called The Yacht Club, and I was the music director at my Church for 10 years , until recently. The Headrush design works great for me in both situations. Of course, I use two different groups of tones. I just wanted to see what yours sounded like out front compared to mine. I modeled everything after Bogner amps and Vintage Celestian 30s. I agree with you recording it might sound the same, but live unfortunately I would have to disagree with you, as there usually is a difference in the size of the room and PA. Usually makes a difference on how the tones push and cut out front. But good videos I understand about covid LOL. Thank you again!

Does it work on the Gigboard or the Mx5?
@forthecreator13 жыл бұрын
yes all these rigs you can just load them on MX5 or Gigboard and start playing immediately. You will probably want to change which effects are on which footswitch (because Gigboard and MX5 have fewer footswitches than Pedalboard). This is done from the menu on the top right corner of the screen -> Hardware Assign
