Fire Emblem (ファイアーエムブレム) is a tactical, turn-based role-playing series of video games developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo, beginning in 1990 with Fire Emblem: Dark Dragon and Blade of Light on the Japanese Famicom, and is ongoing to this day, with the recent release of Fire Emblem Fates on 3DS in 2015. There are currently 14 main entries in the series, across multiple video game systems.
The series focuses on strategic movement of characters across grid-based maps, with stories and characters familiar to standard RPGs. Throughout your journeys, you'll meet colourful casts of characters, each with their own strengths, weakness and tricks up their sleeves! However, the most notable feature of the Fire Emblem series is the "permadeath" mechanic, in which fallen characters remain deceased for the rest of the game, forcing you to treat each move with care to ensure the survival of your army.
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is the 8th Fire Emblem game released in Japan in 2004 and worldwide in 2005, and the last for the Game Boy Advance. Set on the continent of Magvel, the story follows the twin lords Eirika and Ephraim fighting to reclaim their home from the traitorous nation of Grado, who have concocted a plan so sinister that it threatens to throw the world in an eternal darkness once again.
