Thanks for sharing your knowledge yet again. I found the video really useful. Now let's see how I can mess it up.

Thanks for the tutorial. I did notice you put an old mans face on the female figure. I'm so glad you did not zoom out :)

Great video Mike Kelley! Thank you so much for sharing. Could you add the #HeadshotCC hashtag to it also? We would love for it to be easily found with all our other Headshot video searches.
@MikeDKelley5 жыл бұрын
Um, I'm SO unaware when it comes to hashtags -- do you want me to add it to the title of the video, or the body description, or somewhere else I don't know about?
@reallusion5 жыл бұрын
@@MikeDKelley Just add the hashtag at the very very end of your video description text. Thank you!
@MikeDKelley5 жыл бұрын
@@reallusion Okay, I did that but it doesn't appear in the description above so maybe I did it wrong (would like to figure it out as I have another one I'm doing tonight/tomorrow and would like to tag it properly).

Hey there again. Great video. I always find myself looking through your older videos. Those nasal-labial folds still look a little off. Is there a way to make them recess even more with a more tuned normal map, or should Zbrush be a better option for older characters?
@MikeDKelley3 жыл бұрын
I have some great Nasal morphs that came with the 1000+ Headshot morph package. If you bake and then reapply a few times you can get as much depth as you want quickly and easily. I don't think I'd bother trying to do this with a normal map and as long as the morphs do the job no need to go to ZBrush. If you want to see this let me know and I'd be glad to make a video, but that morph package really ought to be in your toolkit.

It seems to be like these kinds of tools are still in infancy, that it asked the users to do too many things. In 10 years, we will look back at all the useless things that we need to do that the computer and algorithms should have taken care for us. We are still behind as creators.

Great tip! Will you go over on how to achieve the same texture on sides of face?
@MikeDKelley4 жыл бұрын
It's really just a matter of using the rubber stamp and/or healing brush to continue the facial textures around. I think I have some tutorials that show duplicating such things to fix the skin like if you want to remove glasses -- the same process is followed around the sides.

@@MikeDKelley Sorry, had another question. I tried creating Edna from Incredibles but couldnt get the eyes or lips right. I avatar showed two sets of eyes. Had to remove the eyes from disp map to get rid of
@MikeDKelley4 жыл бұрын
@@wcthrill You'll be hard pressed to find an image of Edna that will work properly, but if you are VERY patient and keep adjust the lips and eye morphs (and then baking and readjusting again) and then reprojecting the image you can do *something* (honestly after about 10 minutes I lost patience but I don't have a lot of patience -- I suspect it will take several hours of careful adjustment to get it right).

Many Thanks. Also how about the wrinkles on the side. How would you build that ?
@MikeDKelley5 жыл бұрын
The normals are for the entire head. You would have to draw or otherwise put some image on the places where it does not immediately stretch. See my other tutorial for fixing/extending the facial image used.

Can this be used in Affinity? Or Photoshop CS6 Extended?
@MikeDKelley5 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I don't know what Affinity is. But if it can accept FBX files then, yes, it can be used there (there is a demo version you can try and see).

Or you can use a free online tool if Photoshop subscription is too expensive: cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/ Open source rocks! On the other hand, I'm using PaintShop Pro since it was Jasc (now it's Corel) - it's cheaper and is good enough for all photo tasks, although I sometimes have to use other open source tools for some very specific tasks. Photoshop is best if you work with images and 3D for long periods of time and subscription makes sense. Or if you can get an old legacy version of Photoshop without subscription. There's also Photoshop Elements which is perpetual, but I'm not sure if it has the 3D tools.
