Why is it always with race? How about two very handsome kind men not black men you make it sound like there are no good black men who love there wife’s and that is not true. We have to stop with defying someone based on the color of there skin. We are all souls in the end and we could have lived other lives before I could have beeen a black man so we are not our color and to be technical based on our ancestors we all are mixed in this world he is not just a black man etc we all are mixed some have better tans then others.

So good to hear a man passionate about getting healing so he can present his best self to his wife.... I'm not sure if this theory is right, but I believe we meet a person that will break us so we can get healing we need in order to get God's blessings. The healing process is the bridge that takes us to the "one". "You are worth all of this work." ... that's a great reminder. Sometimes the healing process seems endless and dreadful, but we gotta believe there's a great person on the other end of the bridge!

@Joyful n Blessed you're right. The healing process is painful and a lot of men tend to shy away from pain. Personally I think they might be afraid of the pain and maybe dealing with their short comings. I hope that men who need healing will understand that it's not shameful to seek help, it's actually a sign of strength. You're right! A lot of women do themselves a disservice entertaining men who need healing, hoping that their love will heal the men. But these ladies end up being torn down at the end. It's really terrible. I hope both men and women will seek healing so we can treat each other better. I think a lot of relationships can bring healing, but I think that happens during the friendship stage.

On that day I chose to leave my home church, my daddy pastored, my family was there, I was involved in ministry but had to leave it all behind because I found out a man that I loved who decided to marry someone else wife was pregnant. There's a back story to that too. I was going through a traumatic heartbreak, backstory too. It began July 2013 until November 12. November 12th is a my birthday. The only time I though I could have some joy was caboshed. Since then I made efforts to reframe that date. I can relate, brother.

Ya Gil is not as innocent. He came off as very insecure by being too fixed on Myrla's bougie lifestyle! She still had a significant savings despite her luxury spending. He barely had savings and wanted her to cut back to make up for his lack of finances, a huge turn off. Yup read she had to pay for their apartment deposit upfront, he paid her his half later and his X5 wasn't in his own name. So red flag seems in terms of his credit.

I myself have gone through therapy for childhood and relationship trauma to help me heal. I raised my children mainly without their dad (single mom). Their dad was there every now and then however not consistent with being there emotionally or physically when needed. He is trying to heal those relationships with my son and daughter now. I see my son not having that father figure there to guide him like you said and it pains me. I as a mom can do and show but so much. Married at first sight can be a catch 22. I say this because although there's a pastor (man led by God) involved there's still science and study involved and ppl are matched based on personality, compatibility, character ect. Listen, I just tuned in because I'm divorced and I wanted to hear about somebody that's healing from divorce. I'm not a TV person so I've never watched marriage at first sight. But my brother Gil, representing the afro Latin community, Plus he's prayed in Spanish and he's a firefighter 😍 Thank you for letting him bring some good conversation to your podcast. Im taking the recording your therapy sessions and using it 💯

I could tell this young man was genuine when I watched the episodes of MAF. And to recognize and accept and intentionally take the time to work on personal healing is so good to both hear and see when it comes today men.

Amazing content with real conversation and transparency. I sincerely appreciate what you both have poured out. I appreciate your authenticity and openness. We women need to hear and restore our faith in trusting that there are men who enjoy communicating. Keep doing the work. Your Queens are coming!! Blessings and Love on your journey 🙌🙏🙌

First, I love you even more each episode Sir because MAFS is my favorite 🤗 Gil and Myrla were my favorite couple that season and I thought for sure they would make it. The more they discussed money, the more I got worried. So many gems in this episode but my takeaway was "preference is based on lust." And that's on period. Now I have to go find that episode 😂

Good conversation and great channel seeing black men prepare to be honorable husbands. Glad Gil is working on his healing. This week I finished watching MAFS season 13 with Gil and Myrla and there were some red flags in them being unequally yoked. And these couples don't know each other well. Money is a top reason why couples divorce so they both dodged a long term bullet cause love ain't enough! Wish Gil was more accountable and instead of not focusing on his own actions, lack of saving cause he supports his fam in Colombia. He came off as very insecure in his comments to her by being too fixed on Myrla's money and her bougie lifestyle! She still had a significant savings despite her luxury spending her hard earned money on expensive bags, shoes, eating out, beauty pampering etc. He barely had savings and wanted her to cut back, to make up for his lack of finances, a huge turn off. Also read that she had to pay for their apartment deposit, he paid his half later and his car wasn't in his own name smh. He does seem like a nice, descent guy, very handsome and wish him the best. Myrla early on was not that into him, she didn't like bald guys etc. And may have said 'Yes' on decision day to get more TV air time. Ironic he showed up to reunion in red bottom Loubous guess to impress her, when he criticized her pricey shoe collection! MAFS is really not an ideal or realistic way to build most marriages or relationships so oh well!

Woooow... Just on time this episode... 🔥💯 One thing that cut my attention and realize that man or woman that goes through a divorce, the women has more support than men. Sadly but truth because women and men, both we need help. I'm glad you've stepped up for yourself, that you take care of yourself emotionally, mentally and that's hard to see in men. It's a stereotype that men don't need help, when they go through divorce in their lives and that's not true. Thank you very much Gil for sharing what you have been through and I know that God continues to guide you to find that person for you. 😳Gil, when you pray in Spanish, I said, wait a minute... I also speak Spanish... And that change of voice, ok. 😅 Your prayer was humble. God knows your heart. Thank you Laterras for continuing to help us look at both sides of a relationship, women and men opinions. Healing our hearts before starting a new relationship, and continue to build our lives with or without a partner. I loved it! ❤️💯
