Emily, just as a reminder, I am a fellow brain injury victim. On Oct 1 of 2022 I suffered what doctors are referring to as a traumatic brain injury as the result of my 10th concussion. Because much like you I tend to push myself way to hard, my TBI caused the entire right side of my body to shut down. Now almost a year later, I'm back to around 85% function. My point is, DON'T BE LIKE ME!!! Relax, trust the process, nature, God, and your doctors. Good luck on your recovery and for God's sake be careful! 😁👍

Same advice, I have a Tbi, it took more than a year. What helped me was to work with 🐴, look for an equestrian therapy barn, it brought me joy and helped my balance. Sending you 🙌🏻🙏💗🐴 good luck

Great video Emily. Before retirement i worked with thousands of concussion injuries helping people recover and with neurologists , therapists and family members. A very hard injury to recover from for everyone. I really hope your medical team is able to share this video with other patients (to listen with their eyes closed) as its such an isolating injury and hearing any success story goes a long way in emotional support for them. cheers

@@CONEHEADDK what do you mean by the forbidden actions?
@CONEHEADDK
@CONEHEADDK 10 ай бұрын
@@Staroy I've copied my to cmnts from the same time, that nobody has interacted with at all (often my cmnts become invisable on YT) and I'm pretty sure, they explain it. But short - if you are used to do something, and they are "forbidden" by the doctor, you have put something else in place of it. Like a cat scratching the couch - you have find something it can scratch instead.. Looks as if you also ran into some good doctors, from how your nose looks. I gor mine kicked flat with a wooden boot "a few" years ago, so it kept on bleeding when I slept for about 3 months. A guy I knew, had his punched into pulp not long before, and he told about the pain, of getting it straightened with steel rods 3 days after, so I used my littles fingers a few minutes after the kick - THAT hurt.. The kick didn't really, but I do remember the thud and the shiney red flash.. Today my nose looks almost as straight and symetric as yours (I was lucky with that, cause I wasn't going to let them do the steel rod thing to me :D ) but the left side doesn't let the air through as it should.. Could have been worse - 1-2 inches lower, and it had been my teeth.. Do you feel any change to your breathing, or pain? A guy I knew back then had also been punched, and he ended up with some nerve damage, so when he touched his a certain place no matter how lightly, he could feel a bit of pain, and thought of me.. Our city was a tough place back them.. :D DON'T push your self - just DON'T.. As someone who was young, before rest after concussions was a thing, and healing in general not really was either, I am paying for lots of doing the wrong things.. It ISN'T worth it..!!! I expect you have done your home work from school, even though it was boring - this is "the same".. Sacrificing the current pleasure for a better future.. Find something else to fill your mind with - even stoopid romantik movies (there are lots on YT) or any other videos about things, that you are interested in.. Focus on the "excuse" to let go of your normal routines, and just pick and choose the desire of the moment with out felling guilt over "wasting" time.. Taking care of someone's health ISN'T waste - even if that someone is you.. AS "my guru" Jordan Peterson says: "Treat your selv as someone, that you love." You would (I'm guessing) push anybody else, as much as you want to push your self - just DON'T do it.. Best wishes ;)

Hi Emily, my husband had a very very TBI a year ago in June. He is still recovering. He was a almost a year off work, he even lost the ability to speak properly for a while. He is mostly better now but still seeing specialists. It was my husband’s 3 rd severe brain injury and 8th concussion. My husband spent months and months at stage 1. It took almost half a year before he could even grocery shop because he couldn’t even remember what to get. A year later he still has a bit of stuttering at times . My husband mode of injury was a bicycle accident . He hit a pothole and his bike flipped backwards and the back of his head hit a curb. I thank God he was wearing a helmet . His helmet actually broke. The emergency doctor said it was the only reason he was alive . Please care for yourself properly . Hugs. Take heart my husband is back to full work now and even starting a Masters.

Recovering from any injury can be a challenge, from a head injury even more so. From what I get from your video you were trying to get well to fast, which for a really active person--you--is understandable, if counter productive. I hope and pray Emily that no that you have started to see improvement, that the rate of recovery will increase. As to providing updates, for me I accept what you can share with us, at the frequency you are able to give without delaying your recovery. As a follower of your channel I am along for the long haul, not just a one or two video wonder. Why can I feel this way, because you have more of a life than entertaining us on YT, and you have to give a fair share of your time to all of your different endeavors. Take car Emily, be safe and get to 100% soon.

Awe Emily it breaks my heart to see you struggling like you are. Concussions do take alot of down time to rest and let your brain heal and when your an active person that makes the process of letting your brain heal even tougher. It brought tear to my eyes seeing you so upset like this. Im praying for you Emily for God to give you the patience and help in healing your brain and ease the concussion symptoms and get you back to normal again. If or when you do start back playing soccer please be careful it as you know can be a really rough sport. Glad to see you got out in the wilderness where you love it so much it helps to clear your mind and the quiet and peacefulness helps with your brain injury.

Hi again EMILY Relieved and happy for you things are getting better. Time is necessary for healing but a huge part of that to happen is having the patience to wait! Such an important part because if you don't have it you'll go crazy. Hang in there all will get better in time. If you don't you'll take the risk of not totally healing or healing with limitations. Focus on that patience and things will get easier. Appreciate the update being so concerned. Catcha next time.

BEAUTIFUL!! I can see the sparkle returning to those beautiful eyes!! And that is just looking in from this side. Be patient Emily! As you said, the brain is the key to everything. And it is THE most sensitive organ in the body. I am happy to see that light in your eyes coming back! You are doing well. Your brain will heal in it's time!! Give it the required time and kinda cater to it. I believe you are doing that already. Thank you for the update. A situation such as yours IS a delicate one at best. Some years back I was having problems with a physical recovery. I was not happy with my progress and my therapist saw that so she challenged me ( HARD) She reminded me that when she started with me they used a crane to get me from the bed to a chair, to a toilet and that I had just walked several hundred feet without a walker!! Then she told me to quit whining and go get an ice cream. (she was right, love her bedside manner) She was exactly what I needed just then. Prayers to you for further and complete recovery Emily!! And I hope it is quickly. I know time seems to just creeeep when recovering like this. Blessings to you lady. Keep at it

I understand. I had a traumatic brain injury when I was eighteen. I had to learn how to crawl all over. I remember being on the floor with tears running down my cheeks because I couldn't comprehend the idea of opposite arm and leg. I was basically spread out on the floor with both arms out in front with my legs behind me. Getting both arms back to where they needed to be was challenging. I eventually was able to, and she showed me which arm to move forward, followed by the leg. As frustrating as it was, I recovered and do everything I did prior to my accident. Give yourself time and grace. You deserve to be well and have your old life back. It sounds as though you are healing, but it takes time. Fast forward, I recently turned sixty-five, and the knowledge and programs they had in place back in 1976 are totally different than they are in 2023. I wish you a speedy and full recovery. And for you to have the best life that you possibly can. 🙏🙌🙏

My son had three very bad concussions as a young teenager and no doctor really took it seriously as far as recovery. They just let him go back to normal activities a couple weeks later. He is thirty one and has dizzy spells and, to me, he changed. Just be patient and let yourself heal. This will pass and all those things you want to do will still be there.

Your son can go back to his normal self again but a good diet and herbs will be crucial.

It depends on the Dr. I was in the hospital for 3 days after my accident! That was in 1963!

You should get his eyes checked out, I had a concussion and even years after felt super off until I found out how concussions can mess up your eyes so now I’m doing vision therapy! I also have TMJ from not wearing my retainers at night which gives me vertigo so the combination of the two is awful. Hopefully I get better though

Thanks for recording all your good and bad days, and your thoughts and feelings along the way. My wife and I said to each other "That brings back SO MANY memories" of our respective concussions, me at 15 and her at 19.

I totally understand what you are going through. I had a really bad stroke, ( which is a brain injury ) I was in the hospital for 28 days. I was so messed up. I didn’t understand what happened to me. I was emotionally a wreck, paralyzed in my right hand and leg. It took a few years for me to get better. I just needed to take baby steps, be patient, and it was so hard. But I did get movement back in my hand and leg. It’s amazing how the human body can heal. I’m on a lot of meds for my blood pressure, anxiety and other issues from the stroke. I’m proud of you friend. You are getting better. Just don’t be anxious, take it day by day. We all are in your corner. When you get healthy enough, we all will still be here watching your great content on your channel. Stay you , Stay Awesome! We all love you! 😊

Emily you are so strong. Thank you for being transparent with your words and recovery. I suffered a brain injury 30 years ago in a motorcycle accident. I was struck while I was at a stop light. The driver hit me and sent me sliding through the intersection, thank god there was no cross traffic. I slid 65 feet with my motorcycle. I was fully protected with my helmet and leather coat. I went to stand up and down I went. Next thing I new I was at the emergency department. The nurse showed me my helmet and the was a6 inch crack in the back of it. It took me two years of recovery to get my function back to where I didn’t hear the buzz it my head. Today I’m 67 and am very active. I walk 5 miles a day and tomorrow I leave for a 5 day back country trip in my home state of Montana. You really are doing the right thing for your recovery and going north seemed to be your best medicine. Take your time post when you’re able to. 🫶🏻🙏🏻🏕️

I’m pleased you are on the road to recovery. Time is a great healer but you seem to be also taking the right steps to improve your condition. Doing nothing is frustrating but for the sake of a few months out of your life you have the rest to look forward to and you are still very young. Take care, be safe. 💕 Dorset, UK
