Hiram was a big man, and his stooping down and slinking away transition out of that phenomenal solo was one of the classiest stage moves I've ever seen!!!! RIP Hiram.

everyone is Killing' lovingly.....with great dynamics and space....Carla and her Daughter Karen,Steve's minimalistic elegant solo, Bootsy didn't need to play da bass 'cause:Tom's Booty Bass!! and Jonathan Sanborn(dave's Son)...3 bass players!!..Don Alias and Omar's Pocket ever so funky...no matter what kind of guitar Hiram plays, there's literally no words to describe his undeniable god like guitar solo and then Bootsy and pretty fat & Steve and horn section and Sanborn's screaming wailing horn.....just unbelievable lots of love & respect

Nothing on television has coveyed the pure joy of music making as vividly as Night Music. The musicians are clearly thrilled by the challenge of melding dispirate styles and genres and their enthusiasm is infectious to anyone with eyes and ears!

Steve Swallow...wonderful tone. Some people dont like his tone. But I like it. Its like a dub tone like when you run an electric through a low pass filter + boss octaver. Its got a lil fuzz to it but its good for solid low end support. Its nice to have a clip of how the Parker bass sounds as well...

That's what I'm talkin' about! This is about the best thing I've ever seen on 'Tube. What a treat! 4 bassists! (counting Bootsy :-) Tom Barney grinning and grooving behind Steve Swallow's lead at ~2:55 is choice! I've never seen a group this big besides a symphony orchestra get so much on the same page and make so much music. Hiram - such a voice, and here a fiery contrast to the Lawns vibe. All this and Bootsy. See also of course "Carla Bley - Sextet". Thanks for the post!

I did a double take when I saw the woman playing the organ. I thought, how did Carla get over to the organ from the piano and then when they panned out it looked like 2 Carla's, one at the piano and one at the organ. I didn't know the organist was her daughter.

6:45 Bootsy says “yeah Carla, that’s what I’m talkin bout, don’t be so mean!” Also, Sanborns intro discussion with Bootsy leads me to believe Carla Bley May have had some issues with the whole production. More than likely the pace. Her performance had an error.at 1:40-1:42 which drew a side glance from the drummer and a smile from the brother on bass.
