So sorry I didn’t notice your comment. This recipe is meant for raw propolis and extracting its healing properties into the oil,. The propolis tincture is already in its final prepared form. It has been extracted into an alcohol. It is taken orally as this recipe is meant for topical use. If you’re able to find the raw propolis this is definitely worth making. WOW this is what I have been looking for a long time. I am a bee keeper an I have been wanting to make this but could find out how . Ya I just found your video an I am going to go look at all your videos but this is the main one I was wanting. Thank you , Thank you . Is all of your batches you have make around the same thickness an do you think it would work better by maybe adding a little bit of bees wax to it to thicken it up a little more or not??. THANKS

It should last a year. I made some over a year ago but used it all up. I normally keep some to see what happens to it over time, like 1 year. However, in the video, the ready made salve i refer to in the jar is from June 2022 , and it's still working perfectly. Those bees, you gotta love them. thanks for watching!

Hi there. The propolis isn’t sticky once it’s strained. All the sticky resins and wax are separated from the oil and left behind once your strain it. The salve is a thick emulsified oil that goes on smooth and absorbed into the skin. It’s a bit loose ,so if applying it to a painful cut or abrasion…I add a bit to some gauze and lay the gauze onto the cut keeping the propolis in contact with the area you want to heal. It really has some amazing healing powers. Thanks for watching.

@@suzyrebelo thanks for replying. I made balms with propolis extract, bee pollen. It works good for keratosis pilaris and magic for eczema. Never tried extracting raw propolis which I’m trying to find.

Hi there. If you have liquid propolis it’s probably a tincture. It will have its own specific use and application method. You would need the raw propolis to infuse it into your carrier oil and then it turns into a thick cream which I’m calling a salve. You can make it thicker and firmer by adding a bit of beeswax. You can use coconut oil as your carrier oil. It may even give your propolis salve more body and it has a long shelf life too. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

i've been breaking open a pill containing a 5 to 1 propolis extract and then mixing it with olive oil, then applying to face and washing off after an hour. Seems to be improving skin and illiminating my seb dermatitis due to its antifungal properties I'm sure.

Coconut oil has a shelf life of about 18 months after opening it.

It smells a bit like beeswax mixed with honey. It’s very mild though. This is amazing on cuts and scraps etc. I think you’ll be surprised how well it heals. Thanks for watching.

IF we have to buy it online How do we know who to trust and who to get it from?

Hi there. I looked up all the honey yards in my area. I called around to ask if they carried raw propolis. Not all do. It’s a close knit community so I asked for referrals and everyone was very helpful. The larger honey houses that sell equipment usually have it. Also, they will let you know when it’s in season. That is how I found my source and then ordered it online. Some health food stores sell it but it’s very expensive. If you do have to buy from an unfamiliar source then look at the reviews. Red propolis is not specific to a particular country. If bees has access to the right type of resin from trees (cherry and almond trees has resin that is easier to harvest during July and August when the resin is nice and soft) then they can make no matter what country. Here in the U.K I harvest lot of red propolis just from scraping frames, crown boards and brood boxes without using any propolis trap.

Hi there. Yes, you can use any carrier oil like coconut or olive oil etc. for infusions. I try to match the oil to its application. For healing salves I like to use sunflower oil because it has natural vitamin e. It has a long shelf life and it absorbs well. These properties are a good addition for healing. I use coconut oil for skin care products because it’s very moisturizing. Hope this helps and thanks for watching

Hello yes, you can use any carrier oil like coconut oil .When choosing a carrier oil , take into consideration its properties like shelf life, scent, absorption rate etc.., plus additional benefits the oil offers for its intended use. Ie if you were infusing herbs for skin care then you want it to be moisturizing like coconut oil. I like using sunflower oil for topical medicinal salves ,like propolis, because it has a long shelf life , natural vitamin e which is healing , and it absorbs quickly into the skin or wound. I wouldn’t eat this as it’s composed of wax and resins etc.. this is a topical salve to heal skin scrapes , cuts , minor infections and wounds etc.,, hopes this helps and thanks for watching.

Hello. The calendula flowers are by weight. The oil is by volume approximately 8/10 oz and vodka 1/2 oz or shot, so it doesn’t have to be exact, just in the ball park. Thanks for watching.

Wow. That’s the thing about raw propolis , the colour depends on the bees and what they are collecting in that area. I’ve bought the propolis from different bee keepers and the colour always varies. Hi there. You can add a bit of wax to make it thicker. You can use coconut oil but consider its properties and how it compliments the salve. I like using sunflower oil because it has some vitamin e in it. The propolis I leave semi runny because if I have to apply to a wound I only want to gently tap it on.
