We had 2 of our males wounded really bad on their heads, I thought for sure they wouldn’t make it but I used raw unpasteurized honey a few times per day directly on their wounds until they healed and surprisingly it worked great.. just thought I’d share in case it might help others 😊

Dear rachelmoran229, I would separate him from the others if you haven’t already done so. I very gently put some raw honey on the wound with a q-tip. I didn’t rub it I just put a coat of raw honey on it and I let it be. I did this a few times per day snd I kept him in the house inside a small pet carrier. I placed his feeder and small waterer in there for him and I kept him in a darker room with a night light so he could rest. Praying your little guy heals up just like ours dud.

They both survived and one of them is now called Honey head 😊hehe.

If the skin is totally peeled back exposing the skull, how do you fix it? I culled one because of this. A second one the skin flap is still attached, it’s stopped bleeding now. But will the skin grow back without sutures?

Can you please tell me where you get the beeswax mix or tel me how to make it. I have two jumbo quail, a male and a female that were in with others that have bad head injuries and bleeding bad. I also lost one earlier I just would like to save them if possible.

Hey- do you know what do do about a quails who’s injury is more severe? I have one whose bleeding from its neck and I’m unsure about what to do after isolating it

i had a male that had that problem the other males ganged up on him nearly killing him. he recovered and now is in with other males away from the females.

How would you recommend to stop fighting among a flock I sadly had a Quail lose a eye. I feel terrible as it was my fault for introducing some young quail to my older flock😢

I have this problem with my juvenile males. One scalped 2 of the others & attacked the neck of a third one. I had to separate all my males. My females are more docile. I thought I was going to lose the 3 males

It sucks to have to see these things happen! If you have just one male in a cage, then you won’t have to worry about them attacking each other. Sometimes more than one do fine if you have a lot of females in there.

I use a kind of powder my grandpa gave my mom when she got hurt in the head it works well in the second day they are more active but do you know why this happend one of my quails healed on wendsay so she went back to the ithwr ones and in the morning she was more hurt than last time why is this happening it has happend to three if my quails

I have found that there is normally a singular quail, be it male or female, that is being the aggressive one. After all of your quail are healed, then put them back together and observe which ones are doing the attacking. You may have to sit and watch for several minutes. Take out the aggressive ones and watch for a little longer to make sure no one is attacking one another. If they seem to be doing fine, then you can leave, but make sure you check on them in the next 30 minutes or so. If they are still doing alright, then everything should be fine.

Yes! It is warm water mixed with Saline Solution, Tea Tree oil (Melaleuca Oil), and Lavender. I only put about 2 drops per oil in about a 1/3 cup of warm water.
