Regret can be a heavy burden. As we reflect on our own mistakes and regrets, it is essential to explore the underlying good intent behind our actions.
When our loving intentions are met with discontent, we can sometimes become driven and insistent, which can be problematic. To avoid these pitfalls, it is helpful to pause and recenter ourselves in the present moment, feeling content and at ease. Through this sense of contentment, we can move forward with our good intentions without being driven by discontent or craving.
This is the process of Healing Regrets - which is what Dr. Rick Hanson covered in his Wednesday Meditation and Talk from June 12.

Hi Dr. Rick Hanson: Thank you for all your teachings that you share freely with us. I listen to you on KZbin and the podcast by your very capable son, Forrest. One thing that constantly comes up again and again is “take in the good.” As a very shy and introverted person right from childhood, I felt and still feel very uncomfortable with praise, compliments, etc. I always feel I am not worth it and tend to avoid those situations altogether. I blush, change the topic, negate it by saying “no, not at all.” A few days back was my 54th birthday and the sense of dread started to wash over me since morning. I then remembered the above advice and decided to give it a try. I did attend the spiritual meet in the evening (I had actually decided to give it a miss!) and accepted the warm birthday wishes from everyone. Though uncomfortable, I did it, Dr. Hanson, much like a brave soldier!! Looking back, I guess I did pretty well. A heartfelt thanks to you. I will definitely remember this advice and “take in the good.” I really hope you read this. I am not aware of your email ID, hence posting this on a public platform. Love from India.
