I like to install an abacus near the triple clamp. Just slide a colored bead across for each gear up then reduce a bead for each gear down. Side benefit, I can solve complex equations while sitting in traffic

Thank you very much for making it so very easy to understand how to change all the functions available, with the added bonus of showing each setting with a counter number to know which section to check out for any further changes...awesome 👍

Just had one fitted to my BMW G650GS. The X-type doesn't rely on gear position data from the onboard computer/ electrics but instead uses a wheel speed sensor in association with the G650GS inbuilt crankshaft sensor and tacho signal. The wheel sensor is mounted over my front wheel ABS disc. After a couple of failed attempts at getting the unit to "Learn" the gears correctly, the Glpro now seems to be indicating the gear position with about 95-98% accuracy. The readout will occasionally stray from the correct gear but will correct itself within one or two seconds. (basically when teaching the unit, you need to learn NOT to change up until the correct prompts appear on the display- if you make an error, you need to clear the data and default to factory settings before you try again.) I am fairly happy now with the units performance. No gear is indicated if the clutch is even partially in. Installation of the wheel sensor and wiring took about 5 hours so it wasn't exactly straightforward. (It would be quicker if it wasn't a first install.) This will be an expensive modification if you don't do it yourself.

This is something I can REALLY Use on my own FZ1... So many times, when I am in the twisty mountain roads, it is hard to be certain if I am in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th as I brake hard into a tight curve to be in the 'right' gear to roll on the throttle for the exit... I have a very good sense of what gear I WANT to be in for the exit, but not always sure which gear I got into during braking... I am a bit concerned about setting the "Redline Shift Indicator" in 2nd gear... I would be running over 160 K/PH...

I’ve loved it for that exact reason! You could do the shift indicator setting on the centrestand, but that could be very sketchy!!

Impossible to say really. Different temperature, different fuel, different tyres, Dirty Air Filter, old sparkplugs, different exhaust system, different altitudes, or maybe just different riding style. I don’t think many people get the mileage that I do. Plus my brake pads are only half worn after 2 years and 25,000km, so perhaps i have an efficient riding technique? I’d hate to tell a pro how to do his job, but til it works, the job isn’t finished!! I think you probably need the right harness for the bike. Otherwise they’d just make multipurpose harnesses!

@@AndyManCam i did i even talked to supplier and he said it was the gpx u01 harness for your exact bike i even went on healtech website to find my bike compatibility for harness and it said gpx u01 and that is what i ordered to be specific i am guessing at this point it's just a matter or adjusting a wire or so because everything works so it has to be a wiring issue like i said again i ordered the right harness unless the supplier made a mistake thanks anyways really looking forward to having it work it looks like a headache relief haha

Yeah it’s a real pain when you’re sure you’ve got the right bits, but it doesn’t blinkin work! But that was exactly my issue. I just had a wire spliced in to the wrong place and it didn’t sense my revs.

What happens for example if you put 1st gear from the 6th gear without leaving the clutch? In a red light.

@ScuderiaGiancarlo
@ScuderiaGiancarlo 5 жыл бұрын
Δημήτρης Κριτσιανης indeed. You have to release the clutch to let the system know in which gear it is. So you have to ride (or in case of neutral standing) in that particular gear to see were you in. Hope this make sense :)
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 5 жыл бұрын
What Martin said. You have to have the clutch engaged otherwise the indicator doesn’t recognise any gear.

And what about Firmware Code & Filtering?
@AndyManCam

Firmware code is just he firmware code of the unit. FIltering is to do with how the unti filters the input signals. If it works out of the box, you don't need to worry about it!

Nah, that would have been overcomplicated and cluttered. This way the display itself IS the shift light. Neat, minimal & functional.

I had no idea they have to learn the gears.. I thought it just reads the ECU
@AndyManCam
@AndyManCam 2 жыл бұрын
No, it’s not that advanced. That would require access to the ECU programming and far more complicated coding from the Healtech side. It’s a one time only process though and since then i had no trouble at all. Keep it simple, do it well. 👍🏻
