For an herb with so many gifts, oregano rarely gets the attention it deserves. In this episode, all about the health benefits of oregano tea, I aim to fix that.
Oregano is underrated as a tea! I’ll show you how to make an oregano tea recipe brewed with fresh oregano leaves and another made with the dried herb.
Imagine this… Ever had a meal that sat heavy in your stomach for hours or worse, been plagued by chronically slow, sluggish digestion? What if you had a trusty friend in your spice cabinet or your garden that you could turn to for some relief? Well, oregano brewed into tea can be that friend.
The health benefits of oregano tea don’t stop there, but there are some cautions you need to be aware of when working with this herb.
You’ll come away from this episode knowing:
► How to work with oregano safely so you can avoid unwanted side effects
► How to figure out whether making oregano tea with fresh leaves or with the dried herb is right for your situation (be sure to stick around to the end for the recipes)
► Five situations when oregano might just be the herb you want to reach for yourself or for a loved one
Show snippet:
“Oregano leaves are wonderful for people who have a tendency to feel cold and damp. They are also great for the short term for anyone who has acute cold and damp symptoms.”

I travel with organic oil of oregano! If I feel a cold or sickness coming on I will put one drop in my neti pot, gargle with it in salt water and put 3 drops in water and drink it. Works every time to stop the cold in its tracks! One of my favorite herbs!

My mother suffers from Multiple Myeloma and she has been responding well to treatments. But lately while on medication she's been looking tired may be from low immune system. I was given advice to give her oregano instead of treating her condition. I started giving her fresh oregano leaves boiled in tea. I'm finding her feeling better as she has more energy and moves better.

My Mom had this as well, and oxygenating the blood starves the cancer cells. I gave her beet juice daily and I heard juicing red grapes with their seeds helps eradicate cancer cells. The doctors said it wasn’t curable, however her last two bone marrow biopsies showed no sign of the m-protein in her blood and she has been without any chemotherapy or steroid treatments since February 2023. We were scheduled for a bone marrow transplant and were able to cancel the procedure. The physicians were highly upset. I’m glad to hear your Mom is responding to the oregano, I recently found out about its healing benefits and read that it has been known to inhibit cancer cell growth and also kill them off. I’m extremely hopeful that your Mom will beat this and fully regain her youthful strength☺️🙏🏾✨

I have been adding dried oregano, that I mince/pulse with my Bamix, in soup, I often add a good sprinkle of it to toast with salt and pepper. A few weeks ago I had the idea to just simmer the dry oregano with crushed garlic and some finely sliced onion. I felt a cold or flu coming on and drank the herb drink. I truly felt uplifted afterwards. Thank you for your dedication to herbs.

😮I never thought of mixing it with salt and pepper, but you are right! What a great idea. Kind of make your own herbal mix. Now, tell me, how was the garlic/onion/oregano tea? Was it too hot or pleasant to drink? I can see how that would really help with a cold.

I looked up natural remedies for fibroids and pain caused from them in the lower back. The YT video said to use oregano, ginger, turmeric and black pepper steeped in a cup of hot water on an empty stomach. After just three days, the pain and heaviness is gone! It had a metallic taste, but so worth it!

That was a very excellent video! Thank you so much. I'm so glad you mentioned the importance of energetics, because I'm very in touch with that. My body used to be damp and cold, about 96.4 degrees. Warming herbs were necessary for my recovery. Do you know anything about how Origanum vulgare compares to the Brazilian one that was promoted so much about 15 years ago? Have you had success helping cold, damp people with systemic yeast using Origanum vulgare? I realize often a good formula is needed tailored for the individual instead of only one herb. Thanks also for sharing your resource information.

Rosalee, Your KZbin channel is really beautiful! I started watching your videos yesterday and I'm enjoying the wealth of information and love of nature you emanate. Thank you.🌺 So, my question really is it ok to leave the herbs in the water for a long time (two or three days in the fridge). Or is it really important to strain? From a standpoint of saving time, I usually make big pots of concentrated teas and use them as a concentrate. When I'm ready to drink, I just pour some tea concentrate into a cup and add some hot water. BIT... a while ago I made a concentrate of 3 herbs: lemon balm, Louisa, and lemongrass. But... I experienced constipation, which is extremely rare for me. A friend suggested that it might be because I left the herbs too long in the water, and they became too concentrated. Rosalee, what do you think? Could these herbs have caused sudden constipation?
@HerbsWithRosalee
@HerbsWithRosalee Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about that. I have no experience making teas that way. Water extractions do spoil rather quickly so I recommend making them fresh.

@HerbsWithRosalee
@HerbsWithRosalee 2 жыл бұрын
Without botanical names it's hard to know for certain what those plants are. But, luckily, you can simply use your taste buds to help you get to know each of these plants better. I would same the leaves, side-by-side and see what you think. Is one spicier than the other? Does one have more aromatics than the other? Try making tea with both. Lean into whatever your impressions are. As you work with them both over time you may find that you prefer one in meals and another in tea, for example.

You call it 'hot'. I've never used it except in something like spaghetti sauce, which would be a small amount. I am super sensitive to capsaicin. My question is would the oregano react similarly and I didn't know perhaps that my indigestion was something more?
@tmo.48
@tmo.48 Жыл бұрын
No. I put tons of Italian seasoning and oregano in my dishes and they never taste hot, only good. My husband doesn't like hot, and he loves spaghetti and has never mentioned hot. People need more Italian seasoning not just for the taste but many healthy attributes such as trace minerals, digestive elements, and such. I put lots onto pizza also, if I buy store bought because they never come with the essential spices anymore.
