Do we ever need Milton Friedman today!!

It sounds like the counter argument is that "we have values" that people should be able to buy all of the health care services they want without having to pay anything related to what they are buying. That's a bad value for a free people to have. When you let people consume as much as they want without a concern for cost, and you limit competition among providers, is it no wonder prices are going up dramatically?

The vision Milton had regarding health insurance reform is being established. yeah!! The HSA options are similar to his views on having & keeping individual healthcare options. Found anyone who deciphers contract/policy languages, terminology for loopholes in limitations, restrictions & clarity in COVERAGE you are paying for.

I really like Alain Enthoven, he calls out Friedmans' heartlessness in his "do it yourself" attitude towards how healthcare should be payed for. As a young man in my 20's, with chronic illness that requires routine, expensive medical care, Friedmans' ideas are so unappetizing. They come from a good place, he is rightfully criticizing a very corrupt and costly system, but I, like countless other Americans, am reliant on that system if I want to have a halfway decent quality of life. So, in criticizing it we should not be talking about how to get rid of it, we should be talking about how to improve and reform it.
