Summary:
To mark the 10-year anniversary of Professor Sir Michael Marmot's landmark study of health inequalities, the UCL Institute of Health Equity (IHE) launched Health Equity in England: The Marmot Review 10 Years On, commissioned by the Health Foundation on 25th February 2020, at Church House, Deans Yard, Westminster, London.
While there has been progress in some areas since the 2010 Marmot review, there is growing evidence that health inequalities are widening and life expectancy is stalling.
The launch event presented key findings and recommendations from the latest review and explored the next steps required to ensure greater progress is made over the next decade.
Sessions were held across the topic areas examined in the review, including early years and education, work and income, and housing, places and communities. The event also explored practical examples of how health inequalities are being tackled on the ground.
