The private health insurance system itself needs to be abolished and replaced by the Govt paid system without any middle man. My wife worked for Prudential Insurance long ago but left because the company told employees to not pay claims and lie to customers that they never received their claims, etc, even if their claim papers are right there . Her conscience didn't allow to continue at such a place, and she left. I myself have experienced this from Noridian, which is contracted by Medicare to pay claims. After my getting cancer, Noridian denied ab tests, saying they were medically not necessary, and I ended up paying $1200 to Quest in spite of me and my oncologist writing appeals to Noridian. Noridian even denied UCSF payments for procedure for my back pain by finding loopholes.

Medicare exploits the same tactic by contracting out private third parties to pay claims. Only mission of third parties is to cut down Medicare cost by delaying and denying payment. After my cancer treatment, one type of blood cell became very high, and my oncologist ordered molecular test to rule out leukemia and Noridian , one of the Medicare appointed contractors denied claim saying it was medically mot necessary. They refused to pay claim e en after my oncologist and myseld writing appeal. So I ended up paying bill to Quest lab. Just a few months ago, Noridiam again did not pay UCSF for doing the procedure on my back by finding some loopholes, which are hard for us to understand.

The health care system has had issues for years. We tried to fix it a little bit with the ACA but Republicans didn't like it, they thought it was too socialist. However countries like Canada for example have healthcare for everyone and nobody is denied. Some of these insurance companies are denying claims for services that they claim to cover when people sign up with them. It's just ridiculous. This is lobbied, legal and bureaucratic mass murder fueled by money... I'm glad for us in Europe healthcare is a human right provided by government (you can chose private if you want. Still, its affordable). For us Care is provided according to need and urgency. So any life threatening or extremely painful condition you´re rushed to the hospital and taken care immediately, for any non urgent surgery like cataract or meniscus surgery you will probably have to wait a while. You can do periodic check-ups with your family doctor that will prescribe you a set of exams according to your age and gender or to any discomfort that you feel, all covered by National Health System or with a insignificant co-pay (like 15 dollars for an MRI). This will make possible early detection of serious illnesses like cancer, and make your chances of survival much higher. None of this is dependent of your wealth. Long live "socialized" healthcare! (in Europe big cooperations are also lobbying to end or reduce NHS but we are not getting fooled and politicians know that) Good Luck America!

The US for-profit health insur system *rations* care through high deductibles, delays and denials that fatten their profit margin; they deprive people of the care they paid for with their premiums. Healthcare needs to be a govt-administered *service* not “insurance” because unlike other insur, hc is needed routinely, not just for more rare emergencies/ accidents/ natural events. We are the *only* democratic, industrialized country without some version of universal healthcare! Don’t fall for private health insur co’s scare tactics and propaganda. All healthcare should be privately run non profits.

Most health insurers are non profit. Fake news CNN would never tell the sheep that fact.
@pirateofpacificАй бұрын
Are you out of your mind? Private non-profit is just the label they use. Jeff Bezos, Trump and many millionaires paid zero taxes or e en got millions back from IRS because they did not show profit on paper. We need fully govt sponsored healthcare without any middleman.

How long did he work for health insurance companies before quitting now that a CEO has been shot and killed. I suspect many years if he was a VP and now he has a conscience. 🤯

We need a public option for non-profit healthcare. Vote blue next time you get the chance.

You're objecting to the symptoms of a larger problem. Your government is not by and for the people. The problem is institutionalised greed + corruption (lobbyism), a lack of accountability and a press owned by the same people who own most of the politicians you think voting for achieves something despite decades of evidence of the contrary. All the safeguards to guarantee the democracy your founding fathers envisions have been corrupted. You need to see to Thomas' Tree.

If the hospitals were cheaper perhaps we could get rid of insurance? That’s what I do now and it’s working for me so far . 50-70% discount I get for writing a check and no co pay because I don’t have insurance! If I get hit by a bus I have a problem but I don’t intend on doing so .

CNN look at VITAMIN D. I have been getting a prescription for Vitamin D because I have a low Vitamin D count. Now my PCP tells me that taking this is no longer available for prescription. Insurance said there are no benefits!!!!

You can buy vit d at the store...don't need a script
@or6913Ай бұрын
@@katiechapman277 True. But when you need as high a dose as those of us need, it gets expensive really fast to have to take so many vitamin D pills in one day. When it was sold through prescription, they were extremely high doses, and only the regular co-pay, which was a fraction of what it costs to buy in huge quantities over the counter.
@or6913Ай бұрын
@@guybeingaguy Some people with vitamin D deficiency are so extremely deficient, due to they way their body does/doesn't process it, that no amount of foods high in Vit D are enough. Only prescription strength pills do the trick.

There needs to be a National Health alternative to commercial for-profit healthcare. Fundamental healthcare should be similar to fundamental education -publicly funded, publicly available to everyone. Mind you, those who are in the publicly funded system will have to accept long wait times for non urgent afflictions, but properly triaged cases will get appropriate treatment as quickly as necessary. Public healthcare will make extensive use of mid-level providers for primary care, and access to specialists will be restricted. However those who can afford it (or get a good benefit package from their employer) can go private, avoiding long waits and seeing a physician instead of a nurse/PA. This would change the way insurance companies operate too, since many poorer and sicker people would be serviced by National Healthcare. Taxes may have to go up to cover this, however that depends on the will of representatives to stop funding other things (like pork attachments to spending bills), “buying Greenland”, wasteful government spending on the military industrial complex. So everyone could be covered for basic healthcare needs (but triaged), the elites could still buy private insurance and enjoy short waits plus unrestricted access to physicians/ specialists (like they do now with private schools).

I don’t want my insurance tied to my job. I’m also angry that the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) minimal reform was rejected by the incoming administration. No one voted for Musk. He shouldn’t have had the power to kill the budget and whatever changes he’s going to force our elected officials to do. This isn’t right.

Your government (at least a certain political party) has been trying to help Americans get rid of your healthcare system, but the American people keep voting against their own best interests. It is going to take, at minimum, a nationwide uprising of the the majority of Americans demanding change in the public sphere. Republicans are the ones pushing for the status quo, feeding you the same bootstrap mentality and you keep repeating that old mantra, "i ain't going to pay for someone else's healthcare.
