I just want to mention that I fall under category 6. Because I am from the USA, they didn't even consider my previous health insurance (public or private) when giving me public health insurance. Because I'm above a certain age, public insurance wouldn't typically be offered to me, but since I am currently below a certain income threshold, it was mandatory public (statutory) health insurance was given to me. Edit: I almost went with Feather. My friend, born and raised in Germany, suggested Feather. I went with TK. Oh well. 😢

That's interesting, can i be a part of the public health insurance and pay, out of pocket, for specific checkups/treatments? or do i need to have a specific insurance for that?
@simplegermany15 күн бұрын
Yes you can.

Thank you for all the great content of your videos. I have dual citizenship EU and US and moving to Germany very soon. I have been Living in the US for 20 years and my insurance is through my current US employer, coverage will end upon my resignation. No prospects of employment upon arriving in Germany, want to take some time off to get settled in. What insurance would be the best option for me ? Thanks

@@simplegermany Can you make a video about service providers (Health insurance, expat relocation, housing websites) for people who are planning to go to Germany with the Chancenkarte? For example, I couldn't find much information about health insurance providers for the job seeker visa. I contacted Ottonova and they don't offer insurance plans for job seekers 😮💨

An complete new question. What if you are a German citizen , worked here several years and move outside Germany ????? Do you still need to pay ? Because most of the listeners are foreigners they want to work here for 10 , 15 years have a citizenship and live some years in different countries ?

No if you leave Germany for good you don’t have to keep on paying health insurance or any other social contribution.

hello! i am a non EU citizen and i recently secured a an employment contract , i am desperately trying to get the work permit as fast as possible and one of the requirements is already having insurance. my employer in germany has already told me i will get insurance but only after my employment contract starts. what should i show the germany embassy? should i get insurance for the months leading up to me moving to germany? what type? DANKE SCHÖN

Congrats on nailing that job! 🥳 We answer exactly your question in the video 😉. Your public health insurance (it sounds like you signed up for that) will only kick in once you start working. So you need travel or expat insurance to secure your visa. Our partners at Feather Insurance are experts at providing exactly that. You can find the links to their services in the description 😊

Hello there, Which health insurance do you recommend for a couple looking to travel to Germany on Chancenkarte VISA? I want the cheapest Insurance which just covers Chancekarte VISA requirements. • No limit to the reimbursement in case of sickness • If the insured person becomes sick, no deductible higher than 300 € per year can be demanded • Preexisting conditions must be included • No clause for termination regarding the insured person reaching a certain age, change of residence permit or loss of residence permit • The Insurance cover cannot have any time limit (or needs to be automatically renewed)
