I can fully understand Dennis's aversion to some Philippine foods. I went to Bacolod for almost 6 months 3 years ago, and for a further 6 months last August. My weight was 13 UK Stones (182 Pounds) on arrival each time, and on departure 11 UK Stones (154 Pounds). Hopefully when I move there (subject to current health issues) I will try as many Philippine dishes as I can to see what I like. Will also be doing most of my own cooking making UK and European dishes. Sadly, I have never found a decent butchers shop like we have in the UK.

@bmwr807 The only one I found "online" anything looking like in the UK is up north somewhere i forgot where but you can also buy UK items online too Britbox it's called but it's expensive 😬 I don't mind some of the food but I'm picky as my Filipino family and friends would say all the time 😂🤣 where will you return to ? Bacolod
@bmwr80715 сағат бұрын
@@nomadpack4050 Yes, I've seen a website selling UK food and yes, it's very expensive. I will try and make the best of local produce but cooked in a European style. If my health improves then will try and make it to Bacolod later this year.

Thank you so much for this video. Have wondered if health insurance in the Ph is worth it and it seems with pre-existing conditions it's better to self insure. Thank you for this info! :)

Personally I don't at present have any health insurance I am thinking about it but I would put an amount into a separate account and you have total control on your funds.💰🤒😷🏥👍

Enjoyed very much this informative video. I was hoping Dennis would do some comparing between the cost of a SELF-INSURED patient in the philippines VERSUS the cost of an INSURED patient in America. I think many of us U.S. retirees who are contemplating a move to the PH would greatly benefit from this info if you would be kind enough to present it in your next or some upcoming vodeo. Thank you both for taking the time to do tonight's video.

Thank you for telling people what you know. I'm sure others may want to follow the same path of self-funding their own healthcare under the same circumstances as you. I think you've made a very smart choice. It works for you, for your set of criteria. Wow! Your neighbours are quite loud in today's video. I'm guessing that is what you may hear more often than we hear on video because you live there, and we only see snippets of your everyday life. It sounds like lots of children live there. As long as those are happy sounds, I'm sure you are okay with it. 😀

That was my husband's and my problem the first few months of retirement. I was bored not doing anything. We were both used to getting up early then drive to work. 😢 I don't think my husband can retire in the Phil. He can only stay maybe a month at a time.

Guys, there's no health screening associated with PhilHealth and it's cheap. Only ~P500/month for Marissa and ~P17,500/year for Dennis. It likely could have paid for itself in part during your last hospital stay. While I completely agree that health insurance is a scam and should be illegal, I also think that PhilHeath is actually a pretty good value. Again, there's no health screening associated with PhilHealth enrollment. That Nabunturan office was giving you bad information.

Did Dennis keep his Medicare up to date in case he would need care in the US? I only ask because I have heard that many expats, once they have established their lives in the Philippines, stop paying fully into Medicare and just self-insure. I dont know what Medicare part that people have the choice to pay into. Thxs for the video and best wishes.

Hi health insurance you pay more and you get back your better of keeping money in the bank to pay for doctor and the hospital the way i see it if you pay one year of health insurance and you not been in hospital it would good to get the next year insurance for free
@nomadpack40502 күн бұрын
But if you get a long term illness like cancer which you could be battling for a number of years that would be very very expensive and very stressful to pay for all out of pocket 🤔 It's all totally choice of individual and everything needs to be weighed up and thought through and discussed
