Those that criticize are those that are not willing to put the time in to confirm. I watch, listen and take your points as a guideline, then I look for the information. If they are not happy with what you pass along, then they could switch to another video. Thanks for sharing the information and I will continue to follow you

My Medicare advantage plan reimburses emergency medical internationally and pays for my drugs. The savings is hugh. So far your the only vlogger who recognized this. Thanks for sharing.

You made your point very well and those are: 1. Medigap does cover you nationwide with no out of pocket costs but can be very expensive. 2. Medicare Advantage is cheaper. You still have to pay Medicare part B. It covers you but only in the locality where you got it from. 3. Medicare advantage does cover you abroad ONLY for emergencies. You still have to pay out of your pocket prior to reimbursing your EMERGENCY case. Thanks for the info. As a future retiree, it becomes clearer to me that I should get a cheaper Medicare advantage plan instead of a Medigap plan.

Thanks for this important issue Sir. Just like you, I’ve been here in the US for 49 years and retired from the Federal sector four years ago. I retired with my Health insurance that I had when I was still employed. However my yearly premiums have been rising over the years. So I recently enrolled in Medicare Part B in order to continue with a medical advantage plan. Thankfully, my old Aetna PPO plan can now be automatically shifted into an advantage plan. Since my retirement I also lived half the time here in the US and half time in Baguio City. I guess we have to do our best to stay healthy especially when residing back home. I just subscribed to your channel; I find some of your contents very informative especially for us US retirees. God bless!

Just FYI my husband is receiving ssdi and he stayed in the Philippines for almost 10 yrs. Since he’s not covered on medicare living outside the usa we decided to cancel his medicare after 3 yrs. We then decided to move back to the usa and he has to re-enroll for his medicare, now he’s being penalized for the last 7 yrs that he wasn’t enrolled with his medicare and was told that the penalty will be for life as long as he is covered by medicare. His penalty is $100+

Wow! I wish I saw this vlog 2-weeks ago before Federal and Medicare open season ended… As a retired VA/Federal employee nurse, there are interesting choices for retirees. Lots to absorb, yet intimidating and challenging. Moving forward, convenience and challenging health issues, plus fixed income issues is a top priority for most retirees. One need to make smart choices affecting retirement plans, which is confusing to most elderly folks. In addition to Tri-care for Veteran retirees, there is a VA clinic in Manila, Philippines and most states here in the USA. The Veterans can go there for additional health care. So, that’s an added benefit for former Military servicemen and women. Just reach out to the VA and they can assist with referring to additional benefits available. Yes, not everybody gives you the answer you want; however, ‘there is no stupid question…’according to my college professors. Take care and wishing you a healthy holiday season! Enjoy your family anywhere you are GPa! God Bless you more! ❤🎄

Once again you’re knocked it out of the park very interesting video grandpa. I’ve been dying to get over to the Philippines to meet my fiancé and what you had to say was very informative and you’re completely correct because I have Medicare advantage through United healthcare and that was one of the selling points is that wherever I travel i’m covered. Just wanted to add something that you might want to know about is it there’s plenty of fax services that don’t require having a fax modem on your computer I use the fax but there’s literally dozens of them even applications in the phone that our smart phones so that you don’t have to have a phone line in order to send faxes any more thought you’d find this useful.

Hi Grandpa. I am an insurance broker in Hawaii. I am glad you are making people aware of the emergency worldwide coverage with Medicare. There are a few points that people need to know. Like you say, it must be for emergencies only. Also, emergency care must begin during the first 60 days of each trip outside the USA. The deductible is $250 each calendar year. The maximum lifetime benefit is $50,000. So, in other words, in an emergency, you would pay $250 for the deductible, 20% of the bill up to $50,000, and 100% of the bill over $50,000.

@susanball7051
@susanball7051 3 жыл бұрын
Thats too small for 500k , you should have at least have a million pesos reserved for your health problems as your emergency cash. If you have lots of prescription drugs as your health maintenance then you better off living in the USA because you will have a long life in the USA. There are so many foreigners lived in the Philippines during their early retirement age and when sickness came as they aged unexpectedly they decided to leave the Philippines and sold their farm in the province and went back to where they came from. Sad to know na tapos na ang mahabang panahon at maliligayang buhay and owning a huge property then they went back to where they came from! At panibagong buhay! Thats why hindi lahat na material things sa mundo ay para sa iyo habang buhay dahil lahat ay may katapusan!

Under Original Medicare, you are automatically covered for Plan A (hospital charges), but you will need Part B (doctor's fees) as an option. Part A is FREE and you pay about $150/mo for Part B. After you have that, it only covers you for 80%. Who wants and can afford to absorb the remaining 20%. That is why ALMOST EVERYBODY gets a Supplemental Plan or Advantage Plan. Also, Original Medicare will only cover you while in the US. Supplemental Plan and Advantage Plan is covered in one of my vlogs. @@vloggergrandpa2707 Sir, part B of Medicare has now gone up to $ 172.00 since our Social Security raise. Where do you get that Part B is only $ 150.00?

What about Philhealth for expats. I’ve been told I can get it when I move there. I’d like your opinion and comparison to advantage plus. I appreciate you. Thank you, Gene from Oklahoma.

I wouldn't rely too much on PhilHealth unless you're happy going to a public hospital/clinic. I understand it's almost like a discount card. Never compare it with medical card we have in the U.S.

Well if you do back and forth to PI and US you need a medicare and let’s say when you are in PI which is God forbid you went to emergency you will spent a lot of money but since you have a medicare advantage with worldwide coverage you can reimburse what you spent there, depends on your policy. So always check what you have and shop around which company has better a offer ... hope this info help.

You need to sign up Medicare plan B when you reach 65, ( you get permanent penalty for not signing up at 65),sign up Medicare Part B ($148.50) as original Medicare. Buy a Medicare Supplemental plan N ($118.24)/ month which covers medical expenses outside the US. Also, buy Medicare Plan D for Rx medication. Medicare does not cover dental insurance or vision (eyeglasses).

Sir, thank you for this video again. I just enrolled in Advantage Plan & soon be paying $40/mos for HMO Plan. I enrolled in Part B premium & be paying $148/mos, in addition to Part A of Medicare, as required. My questions: during the enrollment period, is it still possible to change my Advantage Plan or stopped it? If so, my Medicare Part B monthly payment which is $148/mos will also be stopped? In this case, can I go back to the original benefits of Medicare, i.e., 80% covered & 20% from my pocket ? I'm not a sickly person, with God's Blessing, still working just PRN, plan to retire 2-3 yrs from now in the Phils. I continued my Phil SSS contributions & be filing my Phil SSS Pension this year. Hope everything will run smoothly. However, I don't think it's fair for me to pay $148 + $40/mos if I'm already staying in Phils. I'll truly appreciate your input. Thank you much. God Bless.

Here's a link regarding this subject: faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-02713 . Also, you can call your insurance carrier to discuss about dropping from the advantage plan. Also, note that advantage would require you to have plan B. If you drop plan B, I guess that will automatically terminate the advantage plan. Be very careful about dropping from this medical plan though.

@Sonny Tolentino. That is covered in one of my vlogs. Here's the link to my channel. kzbin.info/door/YU70S4jYvhw0BOetMFdD6Avideos Also, be sure that the medical facility by VA is okay for you. If it is, that may be adequate although I don't know if it is excellent choice because I'm not familiar with VA.
