Sweet Heather, I’m so sorry that you’re having to endure this. You’re right, 15 months is a long time. I’m sure you are weary. We will pray for God to show you even more of His mercy and grace. This complication seems huge. But, try to think of it as a bump in the road and not the end of the road. You’ve fought a long battle and it’s very normal to feel overwhelmed. That’s okay. Take all of the time that you need to fully recover. Don’t push yourself. Jesus is with you and will not leave you hanging; promise! Best wishes and prayers. My Mom went through infection and removing all the hardware, cleaning etc. After a replacement then a break and infection.. it was a mystery how it started. She was on antibiotics for months. We believe in prayer too. She's had soooo many health trials too.. Slow and steady wins. God bless your sweet, beautiful heart! You are amazing! Thank you for sharing your life story as I feel like I know you personally even though I never watched your channel until after your accident! I also love bread baking and make sourdough every week! I lost both my parents last year 2 months apart and God’s comfort and love through grief is real! So thankful for His grace in our lives especially during times like these! You have such a beautiful smile even though you have been thrown this setback. I know you minister to the doctors and nurses who care for you! Prayers!!! As a fellow Michigander (from the west side), the doctors at the U of M are fantastic! My (adult) daughter was diagnosed by them with four autoimmune diseases, which explained a whole lot. We continue to make that 3 hour drive every year, but feel blessed that they were there when she needed them. Praying for you, for a successful surgery, and a smooth recovery.

An impaired driver hit my son and I head on and totaled our heavy suv. I was driving and had many injuries/surgeries but the airbag hitting my right wrist ended up causing me 6 surgeries, much rehab, misery when I developed CRPS in the hand, and loss of use with my dominant hand for 3 years. Finally a new surgeon gave me a distal ulna prosthesis surgery and with this implant I can use my hand/wrist normally. Praying for you and your surgical team. The journey can be long but God uses faith filled suffering in meaningful ways. God bless.

My prayers continue for you and your family! My father was hit by a hit and run driver 23 years ago and had his leg shattered from the hip to the ankle. His surgeon saved his leg, but he developed a serious infection like yours 15 months into recovery and had to have two surgeries resulting in total hardware replacement. My father is now 86 years old, mows his own 10 acres of land, and takes care of himself with very little help from his family. Thank you for updating us!
