I use a AFO brace that is attached to the shoe because of a foot drag. I tried a plastic brace but it hurt my foot and I was trying to walk so my foot wouldn't hurt and I was still wearing out the toe of my shoe. The metal brace attached to the shoe was so comfortable and it let me do so much more such as square dancing. When I was going to physio there were two physio therapists commented that the metal brace were better. The only good thing about the plastic brace is you can wear different shoes. I cannot figure out why the companies are pushing the plastic AFO's, for me they were a disaster and I am sure I am not alone.
