It also depends on what shampoo and conditioner you use. Make sure they have no sulfates or parabens. And make sure to deep condition once a week. Its a transition it may take more then a year to get your curls nice and healthy again. Curls are defiantly high maintenance.

Oh My God I'm barely starting to transition... Less than one month! Ugh!!!!!! Have already started to switch to sulfate, silicone and paraben free products and started with deep conditioning and oils. I just wished the process didn't take so long... Hope hopefully a year from now I can finally meet and rock bouncy beautiful curls like you. So much to learn about my own hair so far only haydrating products seem to work because it was dry and brittle. Need to get my first haircut this to try to get rid of dead and bad hair.So ashamed but I'm working on it. We can do this! Go Curly Community!!!

So I'm a white girl with curly hair and I've spent the majority of my 27 years trying to hide the fact that i don't know how to style it! from wearing it in buns to trying to straighten it..but the past few years I've been trying to embrace it because I do LOVE curls. but after watching your video, I realize that my hair isn't healthy. It looks somewhat like a few of your damaged photos and I am desperately wanting to get it in shape! sorry for the lengthy comment, but I was wondering what kinds of protein treatments, deep conditioners and such that you might favor?

Holli Stanley hi lovely I know i’m super late but i highly recommend any of shea moisture’s deep conditioners. I especially love the super fruit complex one and the Jamaican black castor oil one! also, using castor oil, rosehip oil, avocado oil and many others on your hair before showering will help with repairing It :)
@ellie-pm9hp6 жыл бұрын
hello i know this is like...super late...but if it’s still damaged then just have a big chop, 4, 5, 6 inches or so. Treatments work 10x better when you chop a big chunk off! the new hair will grow back really healthy. Then look into treatments n stuff x

Just beautiful! Just recently I had my hair cut at another salon but I've been getting Deva cuts for many years at Devachan on Broom street in Manhattan. I'm much older then you, but for the majority of my life I've had cuts that totally were working against what my natural hair wanted to do. And I was needing to blow dry the style that the stylist gave me. I knew my hair had lots of body,, but NEVER knew I had wavy, curly hair until I went to Devachan and Jackie cut my hair with its curl and waves in mind. I need to go back! Thank you for the inspiration :)

I'm glad you share this viedo it can help inspire others who have experience breakage and bleach damage. You got be careful with hair salons and bleaching their supposed to put a protector to prevent you're hair from getting bleach damage. And plus it can be very costly which is why I do my hair treatment and bleaching treatment. My hair is the same way it grows really fast my hair had hair breakage from L'Oréal Oreo developer it expired and snapped one side of my hair. It had looked like I has shaved one side of my hair but I'm grateful my hair grew back along with my curl pattern.

@jessicaagustin48226 жыл бұрын
Yes!!! The same happened to me and my stylist!! 145 dollars to the garbage and tried lightening up myself because I’m a hair dresser.. but my hair started to break and it almost fried off!! Because the last hair dresser used a very high developer on my hair and it lost its porosity and became very elastic.. I’m planning to use step 2 protein treatment .. my hair feels fine still but.. I’m going back to black!

Curly hair is so special, fun, satisfying and mesmerizing to look at honestly, you should never hide those beautiful curls by straightening and damaging your hair I think that everyone looks their best with their natural hair type it just fits you know? I spent my whole life wanting straight hair because I didn't know how I could take care of my curly hair and due to that it was always frizzy and ugly which made me do keratin and nano treatments. Untill I one day discovered the curly community and Devacurl and my life has changed, literally everyone asked me how I'm taking care of my hair cuz it looked too good, bouncy, shiny af and healthy! ♥️ I'm never going back to dying/straightening again!

Is it possible to have healthy blonde colored hair? Bc I wanna have my curls and I wanna be blonde
@sumiyahbintraafi36287 жыл бұрын
Lala xy yes...lipstickncurls (3b) did it a while back. check her vids from like 2012, I loved it. also Ashley Bloomfield (3c) or something like that is currently blonde. I'm gonna try to do the lipstickncurls thing, I love the way it looks, just waiting for my hair to all get to roughly the same length. my back grows so much faster 😒 smh....anyway. YES to answer your question. ideally you do it on healthy virgin hair, but it all depends if your hair is still very healthy even though it isn't virgin
@amandarrwalker7 жыл бұрын
+Sumiyah Bintraafi I agree! It is possible. At the time when I dyed my hair blonde, I was not at all concerned with my curly hair, so the health of my curls did not matter to me! I am looking to go lighter now, and am going to start off with lightening with color (non-damaging) and move onto bleach if I want a lighter lift. There is also olaplex which helps protect hair when lightening. I would suggest going to a credible Hair stylist, a curly specialist if possible, and don't try to rush it! ❤

I've never gotten my hair colored but I have gotten my hair curled once and straightened twice and then straightened it at home like 2-3 times and that's the worst thing happened to my hair, my hair is soooooo damaged!! I havr terrible split ends and it's very dry but I'm on a hair journey to growing waist length and my hair is a lot better now that I've started taking care of it, I have very less frizz now and I haven't straightened or curled my hair in like 7 months. That's the best thing I've ever done for my hair, never straightening or curling or dyeing my hair ever again.
