Fettuccine Alfredo can be done easily within 30 minutes. And that’s making Alfredo without cauliflower. Mise en place.

I tried the Tikki Masala from this video & the Chipotle bowls from an earlier “Easy” video. Food is delicious. But there’s no way these are even remotely close to 30 minute meals. I’m a home cook. Have been doing meal prep for my family & myself for 15+ years. These are simply not 30 minute recipes.
@JMD3M410 Жыл бұрын
I'm a seasoned home cook I would say that both the first and last recipe are doable in 30 minutes, if you knew the recipe. The middle one had more complicated breakdown of chicken and fine chopping, so probably not hitting that in 30 probably closer to 45 to an hour. For those saying you can't do this in 30 minutes, are you talking about ever? Or just the first few times where you need to consult the recipe? If never, maybe look up how some videos on how to cut things more efficiently.

Joshua… let me tell you something. I love Alfredo sauce. Ever since I was a kid, Alfredo pasta was my favorite. I was so obsessed with it that the first time I had it, I wrote the name of it all over a toy ball I had just so I could remember what to order the next time I went to Olive Garden. You have changed my life with that pasta recipe. I am not exaggerating. Alfredo is the first dish I learned how to make and felt I had perfected, and you found a way to make it healthy. I just made the pasta and ended up created the most creamy, cheesy, and delicious Alfredo sauce I’ve made to this day. Truly, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

How does a cauliflower Alfredo sauce differ in taste from a regular Alfredo sauce? I've always been curious, but never tried making it.
@jordanbroussard7289 Жыл бұрын
@@SK-fy8dl I guess it depends on the amount of cauliflower you put in, but I didn't notice much of a difference in taste and I put in about 1/2 head of cauliflower. I think adding the cream and parmesan really helps cover up any cauliflower flavor. I was able to taste it a little at the beginning, but after adding slightly more cream and cheese, I didn't notice the taste at all. The only concrete, noticeable difference is the texture - definitely thicker and more creamy. Definitely worth trying if you'd like a healthier version, I think it's amazing.

Personally, I like to make extra once or twice a week and freeze half for another night. I started doing this when I was pregnant with my first baby and it is just so convenient to grab a homemade meal from the freezer once or twice a week when you’re tired or busy and you don’t feel like cooking but you also don’t want to spend $50 for crappy unhealthy take-out.

as a uni student, I would make three to four different freezer friendly dishes, alltogether enough for 15 meals at least (1 plastic container = 2 portions at least), so all I had left to do was prep the sides (rice, potatoes, green beans, wtv) when I was ready to eat. i could basically meal prep 7 or more weeks-worth of meals all at once, just by spending 1 weekend cooking 4 different dishes in big batches. Cuz I would alternate between those frozen meals and various sandwiches or pasta meals I could throw together easily (changing toppings, sauces, and fillings enough not to get bored with them). For the frozen meals, I'm talking boeuf bourgignon, chicken tikka masala, casseroles... I felt like an absolute culinary genius, effortlessly getting delicious and varied homemade meals whenever I was absolutely exhausted with studying and exams, cuz they were ready weeks in advance

I made the chicken Alfredo tonight and it was a big hit with my husband and my kids. Kids had no idea there was a cauliflower anywhere near this meal. I reserved the pasta water to make the sauce the right consistency and a little more just before serving because the pasta absorbed some of the liquid after draining. I topped this with bacon salt which I thought was a fantastic addition. The bacon salt added a pancetta-esque taste without calories. Sautéed broccoli and zucchini and topped with shredded manchego. Our family of 4 ate their fill and there were still a bunch of leftovers. I'll make this again. Oh and one last thing, if you are sensitive to a lot of garlic, you may want to roast or cook the garlic a bit to cut the spiciness of it. I thought it was going to be "too much" but once it was tossed around in pasta it was perfect for my taste.

Totally agree with Noor. Making your food a moment or an event in your life is key. I put on a podcast I've been waiting to listen to, or an album that I love. Currently listening to Renaissance everyday, and Gundogs. If you have kids, especially older kids, give them tasks that make them a part of the meal preparation. Preschoolers and toddlers can pluck leaves off of herbs, and they get a kick out of feeling like they're doing something. Older kids can make a salad from a salad kit, and my teenager makes the rice and pasta, and the protein with supervision.

Awesome video, Josh. Interested in hearing your coach talk about meals and recipes for people looking to gain weight, if that ever comes up!
@mrgalaxy396 Жыл бұрын
Well, it depends on the reason you're not gaining weight. Are you just not eating enough calories (you are barely hungry, so you eat less, maybe you've got digestive issues like pain, constipation, IBS etc. so you avoid eating)? In which case, you need to simply add more calories to your diet that won't weigh like bricks on your digestive system. Fats and proteins are very satieiting, so eat a balance of those with carbs in order to increase your appetite and up your caloric intake. Fiber rich foods are also very satieting for many people, so you might want to go easy on those at first. Also, don't use junk food and sugars for calories. The goal is to gain weight in a healthy way. If your bowels are giving you trouble, you need to fix that first. If you think your diet and bowels are not the issue, your thyroid might be overactive since that is the gland that regulates our metabolism. This is a condition called hyperthyroidism. It basically makes you burn through your dietary intake too quickly and not store enough, which makes it hard to gain weight. There are other symptoms of hyperthyroidism, so if your lack of weight gain is the only issue, chances are it's not your thyroid and mostly your diet that's not correct. Overall you want to identify why you are not gaining weight first. Is it your diet, are your bowels giving you trouble when you eat, do you have something causing pain in the stomach like hiatal hernia or frequent acid reflux after eating so you avoid eating, is your thyroid acting up and so on. Chances are you are simply not eating enough quality food and thus not getting enough calories or you are burning too many of them through excercise if you are very active. Aim for 3-4 meals a day depending on how much you can digest, eat whole grains, nuts & seeds, fatty cuts of meat, eggs, starchy veggies like rice and potatoes, add some starchy fruit to your diet likes bananas and apples (don't go too crazy on the sugary stuff). You should start seeing some results within 2-4 weeks. Hope this helps, from someone that used to be underweight :)

I was making a new dish tonight, and it occurred to me that new recipes often take me longer even if a lot of the steps are familiar -chopping veggies I cook a lot, stir-frying, making rice or something on the side, pressing tofu, etc. I think part of it is having to consciously think about what to do next and what the best order to proceed is and not having my multitasking optimized the way I do with my go-to meals. That got me thinking maybe a video about optimizing work flow and multitasking would be helpful? On a side note, I love how Nour isn't the kind of trainer who acts like you have to overhaul everything enjoyable in food to be fit. You still cooked white rice, you added half and half to the curry, and he never once acted like that was some sort of grudging concession - food can and should taste good and be creative even when losing weight!

Yeah. It also doesn't factor in planning time; and tbh this are 30 minutes of constant in-kitchen action, not 5 minutes to start a process and coming back after 30 minutes. After a workday idk if many people want to spend 30 minutes filled with constantly doing stuff in the kitchen.

First off, great video, recipes look delish. However, being an *honest* and *humble* home cook/working mom myself, I don't think it's fair to call these 30-minute meals. The chopping/slicing/dicing...prep work...if you timed that it would def be longer than 30 mins. Otherwise, aside from that, I still absolutely loved this video and I look forward to utilizing some of these techniques!

Perfect! I've just recently starting building my body and these recipes look absolutely phenomenal! I have such an odd aversion to some of the more typical body building diets because it's all the same texture and flavor so this is a dream! I look forward to more, and if you put out a healthy/bodybuilding kind of cookbook I'll be the first in line ❤️ Thanks White Man.

Tell him to NEVER feed his dog onions. It does horrible things to them, forget if it shuts down their liver or ....kidneys, but onions are poison to dogs. Ditto for grapes and a whole assortment of other healthy foods.

Need your help. I’ve now failed 12 times trying to replicate the Curry Buns I could buy at the Japanese bakery in the East village 20 years ago. They’re yeast buns filled with a paste like consistency, with panko on the outside, deep fried, and shaped like little American footballs. Please, please help.

Hey Joshua. Big fan, but unfortunately - plain out lying is not cool. As a long time sub and fan I'm disappointed tbh. 1g of carb / protein = 4 calories 1g of fat = 9 calories You claim the Pita is 494 cals total. 66g protein + 34g carbs + 18g fat = 562 calories. You claim the chicken and rice is 470 cals. 48g protein + 63g carbs + 11g fat = 543 calories. You claim the pasta is 405 cals. 35g protein + 24g carbs + 40g fat = 596 calories. This is really unprofessional and manipulative imho, especially when the point of this video is being macro friendly, with an EXPLICIT emphasis on these values, which are also "validated and approved"

These are pretty big gaps, between 15% and 50% deviation. That's like thinking you're eating 2000 calories whilst actually eating 3000.

Was looking for a comment like these. None of these numbers checked out, and thank you for doing the research to prove so!

I had to double take when I saw the last recipe and went back and found all the calculations to be wrong. Can't figure out how they manage those numbers either. It's not as if they counted everything as 4 per gram. Anyway glad to see I'm not the only one who thought like this.

How are any of these meals healthy??? That's the kind of stuff I used to eat wondering why I couldn't get a 6 pack no matter how hard I tried and had constant health problems like pain or infections. Today I have a 6 pack at 39 without even trying simply by actually eating healthy. I also didn't catch a single cold in over 4 years. What's the "secret"? Eat whole foods that were grown/raised as they should be. What is the biggest problem with all 3 meals here: 1-they all use processed foods as their main source of carb (white flour products with the pasta or the pita instead of using whole-wheat or white rice instead of using brown rice or oatmeal) 2-they don't have a significant source of potassium which would require the presence of vegetables such as lettuce, spinach, cauliflower, brussel sprouts etc.. 3-they don't have significant sources of omega 3 fatty acids which are essential to fighting inflammation and health in general ( which you'd get primarily from seafood like salmon, sardines or mussels...) 4-there is 0 emphasis on where the meat came from while that's absolutely essential in determining whether that meat is healthy or not: animals raised in pastures and fed their natural food preference (like grass for cows) have a way better omega 3 to omega 6 ratio and way anti-inflammatory compounds like phytonutrients 5-the emphasis is on macros whereas macros are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to health: micronutrients such as potassium, magnesium, omega 3s, phytonutrients are absolutely essential to health and you simply won't get enough of those by eating processed carbs or your regular chicken from the grocery store that was raised in a barn without room to move 6-Those meals are ridiculously low in fat as if fat was the enemy of health: that's absolutely ridiculous. Just look at the average European who eats butter, olive oil and cheese in significant quantities (like me) and are fit; processed oils are the enemy like vegetable oil (corn oil, peanut oil, canola, grapeseed...) because they are highly processed void of any nutrient and extremely high in omega 6s making them highly inflammatory; as a result of preparing low fat meals you make those meals not nearly as good as they could be and also deprive the body of a very important source of fuel with many benefits

I think having a tandoori chicken marinating in a tub in the fridge is a game changer I put that in the air fryer and have it with salad a quinoa. I have the salad prepped. The sauce is super easy so happy to try that Also I cook Alfredo in the pressure cooker, that lower fat option is music to my ears as the recipe I was using although delicious felt like a heart attack on a plate. Great video everyone wants fast and healthy. Love your content so far ❤ so many tips and tricks
