I enjoyed this... Especially this quote..."When I get a song, I try to interpret the lyrics in a way that kind of don't give away too much, because for me music is like a gift I just get from the musician. And I don't want to just like wrap it up and give it away. I want to get it and want to put another layer on it, so to say the sign language layer. And then give it away." THIS is how I feel about interpreting music, and I know there are many of us that do. Thank you for speaking out and sharing the passion that so many of us have for both music and sign language!

Excellent video!!! I absolutely love her performances. Even those who aren't familiar with German Sign Language can see and sense what she's conveying. She also makes very clear statements about the ignorance of how society views disabled people. Hearing it come from a European person allows me to bond, even from the United States, based on shared experiences. Thank you for this video! I will be sharing with fellow sign language users, Deaf friends, and students.

This was really one amazing moment to be part of. Thank you both Laura and Ella for sharing it! Making a strong and emotional point for inclusion, I really love that. You make it real on the spot.

I never knew songs/music are that awesome. Thank you Laura M Schwengber. Is there any way I can buy the 2 songs without any jump-cuts? Some how during "Wendy's song", the camera was not pointing at the singer when she signed what was suppose to be "was not your voice". At least that's what the subtitle reads. TEDx that's NOT okey. When I watched it for hundreds of times, it's really bothering me. But over all it's "speechless". So thank you.

Awesome, but what about your blind & deaf friend? Can he enjoy music in some way?

Did she say after 1 year of Sign language study then she started interpreting music? It usually takes about 4 years to do that.
