The example conversation with loss reminded me of how hard I have to work to work to understand without help. I can usually make out what's being said, but I really have to give it my all!

Is it possible to get the Sensory Loss Simulator for school purposes? I'm a TOD and I would love to be able to demonstrate to the teachers how the student is hearing. I feel that most don't understand or believe. It's frustrating.

Hello! I suffer of unilateral deafness since childhood when I had mumps disease.. basicaly, I cannot hear anything with my right ear. But my left ear was normal until 23 years old when I began losing some hearing. Now I'm 26 years old and I have -35db At 4khz and -45db At 8khz on my left ear. The lower frequencies are pretty normal (0-10db). Now I wanna ask you something: can a hearing aid improve my hearing in my left ear? If yes, What kind of hearing aid? On the other side, is there anything I could do to hear with my right ear even a little bit? Thank you

Hi Dr. Rose, I have moderate high frequency loss in one ear following a SSHL. More troublesome is Dysacusis. Most sounds are fuzzy. Might a hearing aid - with all of their technologically advanced options - potentially offer some improved clarity?

If your ear is distorting, a hearing aid will also sound distorted because it has to go through a distorted nerve. I would consult a neurotologist who works with an audiologist for another opinion.

@@DrRoseHelpsYouHear Thanks for your reply. Have you seen more hearing distortion following a SSHL caused by Meniere's than from a viral attack or vascular event?

Worn hearing aids in both ears for 30yr now. My audio does a skydive from 20dB @125Hz down to 75/80dB @500Hz. I'm told if only I was more deaf to lowest tones my hearing would be easier to treat!

I've got to be honest! I did not hear a word, with head phones on and volume up.

@@DrRoseHelpsYouHear Unfortunately, Dr. Rose, I could hear the previous video from a different source at a lower volume. The sound quality on your video is poor. Would be a great asset for a video on hearing to have better sound technology.

@@cathyobriant7393 are you saying you cannot hear my speech or the machine's speech? Are you listening on a cell phone with or without headphones or through a computer? I can hear this just fine through my Pixel 6 cellphone though the speaker without headphones. It is likely your listening source.

@@cathyobriant7393 for over 4.6k views, only two people commented they had a problem hearing the video. I did eventually get a KZbin studio and a proper microphone as time went on and the COVID shut down ended. Thanks for watching!
