Great video! Most reviewers talk about the discreetness of the Lyrics which is great. The question I have which no one seems to talk about is how does the Lyric compare to the best iic hearing aides on the market regarding performance?

Hopefully I gave you an understanding of that in the commentary? Matthew.

Was looking forward to hearing about the updates for 2024 as I've just started using Lyric devices. You mentioned that this includes an upgrade to their new "Membrane Chip" but no explanation as to what that means or what advantages/improvements it implies. Can you expand on exactly what the benefits of this new chip are?

Thanks for the video Matthew - I find this subject fascinating. In terms of you wanting to know about us, I have mild to moderate hearing loss - typical I guess for many men my age (60s). Decided to do something about it when people were getting annoyed at having to repeat themselves and, to be honest, I was becoming mildly depressed because of the isolation. Referred by my GP to a high street chain for a hearing test and within 3 days was sent home with a pair of NHS hearing aids - Phonak RIC. Very little guidance and no after care but I allowed myself time to get used to them. They hugely improve things - I can hear birds tweeting now (and tell whether they're at the top or bottom of a tree 😊 ) and I wear them all the time. I do find them slightly embarrassing - one of the tubes into my ear sticks out more than I’d like and that still makes me self-conscious. What I’d really like to know is to what extent more advanced hearing aids could improve the experience for me. I can see the appearance would be improved but would my hearing be improved further? As you'll know, NHS hearing aids are free here in the UK so I would imagine there will be quite a number of people in a similar situation.

Hey Jim, great question, and a massive question at that. Perhaps my video on the best hearing aids of 2024 will give some clues. One thing that I will add which is so often overlooked is that a hearing aid is only as good as how well its programmed. On top of the tech the biggest positive about going private is that you're paying for the time of the audiologists to sit with you and get the best out of the hearing aids. If you consider going that way find an independent practice rather than a high street chain, they'll look after you better! Matthew

Great information in your video! I've had Lyrics for 9 weeks and had to have the right one removed for three weeks due to developing a blood blister. I'm scheduled to have it replaced next week, and I'm concerned about it happening again because I do love them. I'm now wondering if there's anything I can do to help prevent it from happening again.

As a current Lyric user, I'm a bit disappointed in their performance (specifically battery life) after a year of use and I'm disappointed in their plan changes as well for this year. Currently my Lyric are not lasting nearly as long as advertised. I'm averaging between 6 and 8 weeks before the battery dies. At the plan renewal, I was just told that the plan would only cover 6 replacements each year instead of covering all replacements needed to get through a year. If the product lasted as long as they say, that would be great, but when I have to pay for anything past 12 devices a year, it's not worth the price.

I am curious in your opinion on lyric for someone with mild to moderate low frequency reverse slope hearing loss. I have a consult scheduled for lyric but I'd really like to know your opinion and others with reverse slope that have used lyric. If not lyric what would you suggest. My audiologist is pushing oficina intent, but couldn't tell me why that over other brands or types. I'm definitely interested in cic or iic also as I hate things behind my ears includingmy glasses .

Hi, I have a reverse hearing loss slope and have used Phonak Lyrics for 2 1/2 years. The Lyric is able to program low frequency loss from 10db and higher. Give them a chance, they'll properly fit them and program them to your audiology test.

I have worn Lyrics for 6 months and they are a game changer. I also own Eargo 7s and Signia Insios and have tried numerous RICs. Lyrics have been a game changer for me as they optimze the pinna effect. This allows them to more precisely locate the source of sound. Listening to stereo through typical hearing aids changes it to al;most monophonic as their response times are not fast enough to seperate channels. Activities such as bird watching require not only left/right directionalty but vertical as well. RICs have no chance to locate sound vertically as both microphones on the ear's top. Although Lyrics lack bluetooth, they sit well within your ear so that you can wear bluetooth ear buds while using Lyrics.
