When Capitol Records first presented this song to the band, Ann Wilson (lead vocalist) and Howard Leese (lead guitarist) did not wanna do it. But the label insisted. So... Ann changed up the vocal arrangements and Howard changed up the keyboards & guitar solo. Alone became a massive worldwide hit. According to the R.I.A.A., Alone was officially the number one song for 1987.

Fun personal fact - This was part of the five best weeks of my young life. It had started two weeks before "Alone" hit #1 as "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" was the #1 song on my 16th birthday and then this classic followed that at the top spot for 3 weeks. Six years later after being discharged from the US Navy and working as a rental car agent at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, I accidentally bumped into this beautiful woman and it caused a little stir, they thought I was trying to attack Ann. She was super sweet and when I realized it who it was, I was star-struck and all I could say was "You are so much more beautiful in person Miss Wilson." She told me to call her Ann and I received a kiss on my cheek. Rememberable day at work indeed! (And she is not the only artist I had a run in with the 2 1/2 years I worked there).

The note at 5:01 is what Marko was talking about if you watch Nightwish do an acoustic version w/ Floor on the Cruise in 2015. Right before the note Marko says, "Is she gonna do it? Yes, "Heart - Alone" or "Heart - All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You" and other songs of course. This is a great song in Rock history. The piano accompaniment is great on this song. Ann Wilson (main vocals) and Nancy (guitar) are sisters. I really like her voice and this song has accompanied me for a part of my life. This group brings me back great memories. Cheers 👋

"These dreams" from them is another popular song when they were part of the eighty's electronic music age, mixed with rock. I like songs from "Desire walks on" lp, like "back to Avalon" plus the short acoustic version but I have heard most of them, great reaction take care.
