Funnily enough, Genji wasn't trying to kill her. In the manga before it shows she took his sword he says "You're lucky I stopped my swing before i actually made contact with you" or something along those lines, so he was just simply trying to scare her. They were students together and didn't have a bad relationship (as the flashback she had showed, and him saving her)

​@@Accomplish305 for real its a weird black and white 21st century view mentality people have where as soon as they learn he's sexist Genji is irredeemable and deserves death in their eyes. he cannot be seen as good even in the slightest aspect so nuance is ignored in favor of their black and white world views so they can get the warm fuzzies in their insides from their views being validated, Sheera thinking Genji was trying to kill Sagiri is a good example of this if Sheera would just analyze their scenes a little bit instead of immediately jumping to conclusions she'd realize he wasn't trying to kill Sagiri whatsoever but because he is sexist he must be an insecure man who loses it at the sight of a woman not bowing and must be trying to keep her down when they were actually friends, he protects her by pushing her out the way and taking the hit instead showing he clearly cares for her not wanting her to die and she literally cries for him after his death that's not the reaction some one has who just saw someone they don't care for die. It's clear they had an amicable relationship with points of disagreements honestly just like any normal healthy friendship. It's funny they take the extreme opposite view of Genji "Oh yeah women throw them on the battlefield and treat them like the men disposable cannon fodder" ignorant of the fact that there were many good reason for women not to go to battle throughout history that don't involve the patriarchy like infant mortality rates being about a quarter of infants that died in their 1st year and half of those die during childhood ,so men were a lot more replaceable then women despite what modern people think women were an importantly vital part of their communities more valuable then men in some cases and letting women fight would literally lead to a whole lot more clans and groups going the way of the dodo bird, also the fact that their is no great equalizer like semi auto/automatic guns in their period so real women and not those that have the power of anime on their side would absolutely be molly whooped by even teens on the battlefield and, the last and most important point a women on the battle field would have terrible things done to them if caught why would any women who know these risk go on the battlefield at the time. look at the story of Queen Boudica if you want to know and see how a female led army and rebellion would play out here's a spoiler it turns out really really really bad for everyone involved on her side especially the women. I really like Sagiri and her development, her and Gabimaru's relationship dynamic is my favorite in the last few years I'm just annoyed at people imposing their 21st century mentality on characters they would have been no different from people like Genji lived in that time. Same thing happened this week on the Vindland episode in the comments people acting like they wouldn't be slave owners if they lived in that time when they definitely would be seeing how they treat those with just differing opinions. A bunch of moralizing virtue signaling cowards people like this are.

When someone continuously tells you you cannot do something, it’s harder to do it. In a way, all discrimination is a self fulfilling prophecy. Tell someone they can’t do something cuz they’re a ____, then theyll have a hard time actually doing it. Either cus they’re not given the same opportunities and resources, have bad work environments where they’re pushed out or find it hard to function in (men say women can’t work in STEM, but it’s often cuz the workplace is so sexist women decide it’s not worth it. I think this particular scene needs explanation for those who didn't get it. The fact that Sagiri talked to Rokurota that way after beheading him meant she knew that he wasn't supposed to be a monster in death row. He was only a ridiculously strong kid who has gigantism and accidentally killed his parents because he wanted to play and he was hungry to no end. It was like a curse, and that gentleness Sagiri showed him was literally salvation for him. If Rokurota did grow up and had the mind of an adult while living as he is, he would've really been a monster with no salvation.

That 100% is a trap at the end. Best case, you end up with flowers growing places you REALLY don't want flowers; worst case, those two are absolute monsters who could massacre Gabimaru with no effort. I haven't read any of the manga, but I'm getting big Full Metal Alchemist vibes off the entire island. A trap designed to lure people in so that they can be turned into immortality elixir, possibly by using special humans to grow the immortality fruit that everybody is looking for. Going by that comparison, those two women might be in the same category as the homunculi from FMA--immortal minions for the big bad, with scary power of their own.
