Anywhere you’ve seen the “weather alert” intro? It was with WCVB and very rarely played. Maybe once an hour when there was a blizzard and the intro sometimes wasn’t played at all or only for a few seconds. I heard it in full a few times and it had a very ominous feel. Was always opening to hear it again.

You forgot about WISN 12 (ABC) and WPTZ 5 (NBC), KSBW 8 (NBC) which went to the Hearst-Argyle camera mandate a year after Hearst bought the stations, as well as the KMBC and WTAE Talent opens (not to mention WCVB which originated the Hearst-Argyle camera mandate in late 1995).

KEZI (channel 9; Eugene, OR) used the graphical component of Hearst’s 1995 package in the late 1990s. The musical component was not able to be used however because of copyright concerns.

crazy to think about how this was probably the coolest thing ever back in its day and now in 2024 it just reeks of 90s... this was a good package though i still dig it works surprisingly well with the newsmusic central theme too, but without the synthesized gari horns it just feels weird 🥴

Gran trabajo.

WDTN-TV, Channel 2, Dayton/Springfield, Ohio (formerly affiliated with ABC), is no longer owned by Hearst Communications, Inc. It is now owned by Nexstar Media Group, Inc., and affiliated with NBC. 👌 Also, WJCL-TV, Channel 22, Savannah, Georgia, the ABC affiliated television station, is also owned by Hearst Communications, Inc., which has world headquarters in New York City, New York. 👌

The Image News package (aka the A package) was based on 8 On Your Side, which was originally commissioned by WFLA in 1989. An update to the latter package that was commissioned in 1995 by WTHR included several themes based on the former. The first three stations to adopt it outside of Hearst were KFOX, WACH, and WUPW. Stations that adopted Revolution (aka the B package) included: KOCO (Oklahoma City) - A package used by KWTV WYFF (Greenville/Spartanburg) - A package used by WLOS WESH (Orlando) - Variant of A package already used by WJXT (Jacksonville) WLWT (Cincinnati) - Station ownership swap took place between WDTN (Dayton) and WLWT in the summer of 1998 due to FCC regulations of the time where two stations with overlapping signals could not be owned by the same company; WDTN was affiliated with ABC at the time, but reaffiliated with NBC in August 2004 WMUR (NH) - A package used by WPTZ (Plattsburgh) WGAL (Harrisburg) - A package used by WBRE (Scranton) KITV (Honolulu) - Sold off in 2014 KCCI was the only station to use both packages (A package for mornings, B package for other news programs).

Granada Television adopted a variant of the graphics package used by Hearst during this time for its news program Granada Tonight between October 1998 and September 2001, when it was canceled because of declining viewership. It was replaced with a revival of Granada Reports sometime after the 9/11 attacks.
