The best female singer I have ever heard except maybe a tie with Karen Carpenter, but two very different styles obviously. Pat Benatar and Stevie Nicks are right in the mix though for being possibly the best, though I would rank them 3rd and 4th. Are there any female rock singers today that are as good?

There's a story ex-Heart guitarist Howard Leese used to like to tell about the time he was down in New Orleans for Mardi Gras. It happened that there was a street band on the corner outside his hotel and Barracuda was part of their set list so he heard Barracuda once every hour, but they kept dropping a bar in the intro. He got so frustrated he actually went out there and sat in with them on one song to make sure they got it right. Must've been some thrill for those guys.
