Ann’s voice is truly amazing, and Nancy is an awesome guitar player, but when the two of them sing together, it’s perfection! If you love this one you will definitely love Dreamboat Annie!

Hello Angela: Yes, this is the softer side of Heart...and beautifully performed. Dreamboat Annie (from their debut album by the same name) is another of their songs that I have always loved. So melodic and mellow.. but disappointing in its brevity. Thank you for reacting to this. Always a pleasure to see your content pop up up on my screen! 👍👍❤❤

@@stephenlutz3907 There are three different parts to it on the Dreamboat Annie album... Dreamboat Annie (Fantasy Child) track 2, which is really short 1:10, Dreamboat Annie track 5 on the album, which is just over 2 minutes long, and finally Dreamboat Annie (Reprise), the final track on the album (and longest version at 3:50).

I had this album in the 70's. The song received bad reviews, but I loved it. It has some of the most beautiful harmony between Ann and Nancy. I also like how the metaphor applies to life in general. Sometimes the joy isn't so much from succeeding, but in the trying and having fun doing it.

Lyrically, this is shades of early Joni Mitchell. A song that young women can hear and sense understanding. In a way, men can also listen and maybe think about their behaviors. "Dreamboat Annie" is along the same lines thematically and just as marvelous to hear.

I know Heart have had more than one career, but it's their first four albums that always resonate for me. From 1976 - 1978...Dog & Butterfly being the fourth. I know their debut album, Dreamboat Annie was released in 1975 in Canada, but I live in the UK, and got a copy in 1976...which I still have. It's my favourite of the first four, my only criticism is the track, Sing Child. I've always held the opinion that it never fitted with the rest of the album. I'm also one who believes that music sounds better on vinyl. CD's are too sanitised.

The album is called "Dog and Butterfly" because side one has only soft songs. Side two has the rock songs. Not only is the album cover nice,to look at. The album is nice to listen to. The sad thing about this album is the fact that their lead Guitar player Roger Fisher was kicked out of the band after this album was made. This was their last really good album. Roger Fisher composed the music for their first four and only really good albums. That is why you loved the song "Baracuda" from their second album Little Queen. He composed the music. When the band got rid of Roger the music on the following albums lost that creative spirit. This album was up for a Grammy award. Listn to "Minstral Winds" side two you will love it. Glad you enjoyed this beautiful song. Listen to the studio version of "Minstral Winds". The live versions of this song are not good, because the guitar player for heart just plays chords in the song. He does the song no justice. In the studio version you can hear the creative guitar style Roger Fisher uses to make this song so powerful. I enjoy your reactions. Well done. If you get a chance listen to "Devil Delight" from the Magazine album. You will love it.

Another great reaction. This for me is Heart at their peak. This was a lead tune on an album of the same title. The “Butterfly” side was all softer tunes, the “Dog” side was harder. On that side was the tune “Straight On” which I think you’d like. Not extremely hard, somewhere in the middle. Ann’s vocals are sexy and driving. Happy Holidays!
