Michael Deroshire was a beast on drums! Man...that Ludwig drum sound blows anything away today. Dude was so fluid...Barracuda one of THE best studio drum performances ever!

Michael Derosier & John Bonham for example both made a 5 piece kit a very cool 😎 setup to be playing in the 1970s because it was the right balance of ⚙ ⚙ ⚙ gear. Not too clunky/unwieldy and not too small a kit to not get the right sound from it!

I was in several Jam 🎸 Bands back in the day sitting in on drums when people were getting away from home and off to college and discovering the old values of "Drugs 💉 🙃 💊 🙃 💉 💊 Sex and Rock 🎸 😳 and Roll 🥁 🎶 🎵 🪕 🎼 " We played everything together we heard 👂 and made up a lot of cool 😎 shit of our own! When 🤔 🤔 you're in that kind of free give and take type of environment the vibe is really 👌 ✨ fluid and you are just jamming and not worried about how you come across to other ppl! That scene will never happen again! The Golden age of Rock 🎸 ✨ and I lived it and was a small part of it! I was in the US 🇺🇸 Air Force in those years and we got "bombed" ( not on duty)🍸 🎶 🍺 🤣 🎶 🚬 💉 💊 and the cool 😎 🎶 life was with the frat parties 🎓 at CMSU (I even managed to get some education in and out of the dorms and classrooms!).

ANN was the best singer around in those days, impossible to beat! so powerfull, with style and what a vocal range! she could vocally do many things other just could not in years where we had fantastic singers, BENATAR and RONSTADT were close but ANN was huge!!
@wvufreak56 Жыл бұрын
Greatest female voice in rock history. Excellent "stage presence " even much more than Janis Joplin. No disrespect to Janis, but Ann Wilson had twice the vocal range and much more. Pat Benetar was right there too.....

All three are great singers and all are stylistically different from each other. Ronstadt could sing anything and did, including country, rock, pop, Mexican, and opera. Similarly Benatar was a trained coloratura singer equally adept at hard rock. It’s all like comparing apples to oranges

@@wvufreak56I have said this before, but Ann could go from crafting a ballad with the subtilty and delicate phrasing of Karen Carpenter to tearing the damned roof off like Janis Joplin. None like her before or since. Probably never again in the age of auto-tune.

I remember watching this live after coming home from eating dinner out with my family on a FRIDAY night [Title is wrong. THIS is ABC Network's FRIDAYS] , I was 15 and in an especially good mood. Heart was on fire that night! Being a guitar player it inspired me to plug in my blood red Continental electric guitar I'd gotten the previous Christmas. My friend Bill Novotney had just sold me a 1965 Fender Bandmaster tube guitar amp just after my birthday October 13,' 1980. The amp had cigarette burns all across the top front, but it sounded amazing!! Bill paid $25 for it and knew I'd want it. 😊 It was an April,1965 amp. One of the very last pre-CBS Fender amps.

Bebe tour, Robert Palmer opened, front row and Ann sang Down on Me to a 22 year old kid, whose heart melted looking into those eyes. Oh, that kid was me. I'll never forget. This video is the closest to how the band and especialy Ann looked. TOP would have been icing on the cake! I've seen them many times. Wish the sisters could work things out to perform together again. One without the other is not Heart.

Both of these songs are amazing and powerful and unique in their own way. Of the two, it's astonishing that the first, "Bebe LeStrange" hardly charted at all, while "Tell It Like It Is" was a hit single! The first one rocks with a badass riff, a smidgen of funk, and near-indecipherable lyrics; the second is a cover of an R&B tune showcasing Ann's impassioned vocal acrobatics. Both performances here are stellar and totally on-point.

The Wilson Sisters practically invented their own Power Pop genre. From Tearaway Rock to heartrending soulful ballads. However I'd give the merest edge to Miss Stevie Nicks and the late great Miss Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac. "Landslide" is unforgettable from the very first notes as is "Over My Head." And I must agree with CMV Herself. "Sure feels nice!"🤔🎤💃💃👸👸🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹🥁B.W.

Just came across this. It's been a long, strange, trip for Heart. About this time Roger, Michael, and Steve leas left or were about to leave the band. Then they had a couple of bad selling albums. And then around this time the record company forced them into a 3 record deal where they were pretty much forced to go away from their roots. They sold a lot of albums, had a lot of hits but it wasn't heart. But since then they have come back to their true sound. Best of all 44 years after I first heard them heart still rocks.

Only took me six years to find this vid but thanks for uploading none the less. Ann's voice is amazing here. She was a more professional and polished performer by this time than she had been early on. Sadly, by this time the band had lost the production and performance creativity of the Fisher brothers. Overall this is a boring live performance. I will always wonder what could have been created had the Wilson sisters and Fisher brothers worked together through the 1980's - 2000's. Would be great to see a reuniting of the band members from the late 70's. However, if the one song reunion they did during their HOF induction is any indicator we'll never hear the Wilson sisters say "we're getting the band back together"
@abhishekroy94229 жыл бұрын
I didn't understand,who left Heart before the 80s?
@Zoetropeification9 жыл бұрын
Abhishek Roy Roger Fisher was lead guitarist, a founding member and writer of much of the music for their songs in the 70's. Mike Fisher was manager, sound engineer and a producer for the band at the same time. The Fisher brothers were romantically involved with the Wilson sisters. The romances ended and both brothers were asked to leave the band in 1979. The drummer and bass player in this vid were also asked to leave after the drummer and Nancy Wilson ended their romance probably around the time of this performance. Thus, what had been a fine rock band became overproduced commercially hyped pop singers in the 80's
@TheMKEWERBY9 жыл бұрын
Zoetropeification Yes, and Roger actually helped write this before he left.
@avocate20178 жыл бұрын
+Zoetropeification I agree. Ann's powerhouse vocals are amazing here (as usual), but compared to the Heart of the '70s, this is a "boring" live performance, as you said. Granted, this was a transitional period for them before they made their big comeback in the mid-'80s, but there are no guitar fireworks here. When Roger was in the band, he gave the band a signature guitar sound, and he also had that awesome guitar interplay with Roger where both of them played solos. Howard and Nancy couldn't replicate that because Nancy didn't solo.
@jamesweldon97268 жыл бұрын
Fossen and Derosier have a band called Heart By Heart. It features Fossen's wife, Somar Macek on lead vocals, Randy Hansen on lead guitar, and Lizzy Daymont on backup vocals, keyboards and guitar. They play 70's and 80's Heart, and they're fantastic. Somar's voice is about where Ann's was 20 years ago. Randy Hansen is an ace guitarist, and Lizzy Daymont keeps right up with him, so you can see the kind of back and forth that was a hallmark of Fisher and Leese. The most important part of Heart By Heart is the Fossen and Derosier rhythm section. I never knew how important they were to Heart's sound until I saw them back together onstage, playing the songs even better than they did in the 70's. They have a few videos here on KZbin.

Ann Wilson's voice at its peak! I wish the original band could've stayed together despite Roger Fisher being gone. I felt they went too commercial in '85 with their self-titled album, when they stopped writing their own material, despite it's immense popularity and hits at the time. They did start writing their own music on later albums. It's good to see the sisters back together for a new 2019 tour. They're at their best live!

Michael Desrosiers was the American Bonzo. Like Bonham, his MO was not « keep the beat » but « keep the tension ». Love drummers where every fill is a gamble. Love his playing.
