I had a lot of trials but home was warm. The 80's was aerobics, colors, L. A. It's called synth. Keyboards and electronic sounds is what made most the music we enjoyed in the 80's. I have been heavily influenced by these times, and it shows in my music. I agree, it has a magical sound... Thought so too when I was a child back then when I heard what my mother was lisening to.

TALKING ONLY OF MAINSTREAM ROCK: The 80s were all about reverb and synthesizers. The 90s brought back a more dry sound and almost no synthesizers in rock music. The 00s is 100% dry with no synthesizers in sight. Bands in the mainstream nowadays are bringing in synthesizers to try and appeal to the majority techno-pop audience, but not really utilizing it as a melodic instrument at all. Mainstream rock was pretty good at one point until it went the way of the caveman and said "screw textures, let's turn up the amp gain and fire the keyboard player". 80s rock was more like a symphony, it had a lot of different textures thanks to synthesizers. At some point rock just went completely jock. Formulaic dude bro crap is all rock is these days in the mainstream.
