I'd like to add some things. First of all we should clarify what kind of relationships we discuss: dating is one thing, marriage is absolutely another thing. I agree that the main purpose of dating is to get to know a person. When you are not committed to anyone, you can date many people. For instance, when a guy invites you for a dinner or for a walk or you go to a cinema together. It means you are in a process of searching for a suitable partner. Then when you both make a decision to be a bf and a gf, you reach another phase of relationships. Since this point you date only this person to get to know him/her better and understand if you want to marry him/her. Coz initially the final goal of dating was marriage. One year of regular dating is enough to realise if you match with your bf/gf. I strongly believe that relationships needs development. That's why no need to date for years (if only you face some obstacles and wait for better times and so on). Marriage is another kind of relationships. And be ready for many disappointments and challenges coz people change (your partner will change, you will change). Marriage requires a lot of patience, acceptance, understanding, kindness and sacrificing from a woman first of all.
