Transmitted on ITV's This Morning, this is the second of five behind-the-scenes reports about the Sunday night drama series Heartbeat. Introduced by Claudia Winkleman, it's entitled "What's New in Aidensfield?" and was transmitted on ITV on Tuesday 08/09/1998.
This VT features interviews with new cast members Jason Durr and Philip Franks, alongside Tricia Penrose, Kazia Pelka and Bill Maynard.

I watch it most nights on DVD still never Tire of watching it. Especially the Vernon Skripps, and Peggy Armstrong episodes.

@@garydunn3037 Loved Heartbeat but i hated Vernon and Peggy, Peggy was just awful to watch and quite cringy (her teeth looked disgusting, was her that bad in real life or was it just her character? lol) as was David when he started to become a regular, full-time character. As most will agree, once Greengrass left it was never the same afterwards and gradually went downhill. Making 24 episodes (sometimes 25 and 26) per series was a bad decision as the storylines got dull or repetitive, though it went to 24 eps when Nick was still in the show.

@@Embracing01 No, Geoffery Hughes and Gwen Taylor were both really nice people. Not at all like the characters they played.

@@Embracing01 I think both Vernon, and later Peggy, they gave the show some humour. I watch it most nights on dvd's. We have visited where it was filmed. Goathland North Yorkhire mant times. I have video of us there with our dog, Rosie. Sadly, the showed ended in 2010, and my Father has now passed away, and my Mother is Invalid from the neck down, and can't even speak now. But, watching "Heartbeat" brings back fond memories that we shared together.

The year I was born!! Lovely memories of watching it with the family on a Sunday evening, got back into it over lockdown and since then brought all 18 series !! Used to live near Heartbeat country in Middlesbrough for 11 years and shame whenever I was at Goathland (Aidensfield) I never saw them filming

On Wikipedia it says Kazia Pelka is Polish . She’s half Polish . My mum use to work with her mum and her mum is English Kazia is from Leeds West Yorkshire

Now here's a program that would be great to see here on KZbin. As far as I know, it was never released on DVD for the United States. Most people here have never even heard of it. That's pretty sad.......... A brilliant British Crime/Comedy/Drama

It's surprising that quite a number of the actors and actresses altered their accents for the characters. You wouldn't think that Niamph Cusack spoke with an Irish accent as there's no trace of it playing Kate Rowan (not that I could tell), but when she appeared in other dramas like Catherine Cookson her Irish accent is quite noticeable. Same with Derek Fowlds, William Simons and Bill Maynard, they all spoke posh off screen.
