That course is always brutal; I was the race director for OCMC the first few years out there. It was like polishing a turd; a huge rock turd and the more you polish the more rocks appear. A finish is a finish regardless of position.

It was my first race EVER! Super tough course! I cant wait for the next hare scramble. I jumped into b class as well. glad i did tho.

Fun video!! When I moved up to the B class fitness was definitely a factor, but one thing that helped me with the extra 30 minutes was focusing on pre race nutrition and hydration. Carb up the night before, and hydrate throughout the week...then I usually drink a Pedialyte or two within 12 hrs of the the race. Then maybe a Snickers right before the race. When I focus on that, that usually helps me push 100 percent to the end without burning out too bad!

Thanks for the advice. Yeah dieting sucks right now! Trying to minimize carbs and calories. Hopefully I'll be at my target weight by the Globe Race in April. Then I won't be so worried about overeating and carbs lol.

I am also running the Tusk recon hybrid w/ tubliss and had a similar leaking problem but with a lot of slime it holds air. Great video.

That is one rocky course, I keep getting invited to go ride it but all I have is a crf 250L. Guess it's time to give it a run. Good to see you out there man, keep at it.

Nice job sticking with it Joe. I really think learning to push through the pain and misery is a big part of it. The course was deceptively tough. It sounds like you're focusing on improving your fitness and that will go a long way to reduce the pain. Good luck in Globe. I'll see you at at San Manuel. Joe, just step back and reset. The mantra that I use in any race is I'm here to finish, don't care if its first or last but short of injury I will finish. In the hard movements I tell myself I can take anything for a minute. Enough minutes go by and you are over the mental hurdle. The body might slow you down but the brain is in charge of when you stop.

Dang it, I’m really bummed I missed this race, everyone on FB seemed like they had a lot of fun on this one. All in though you didn’t do too bad on your (technically) first B race. As soon as you get the feeling of racing in it you won’t spend so much energy stressing about it.

You can fix 2 outta 3, out of shape and fat guys, age is what it is, I bet you know what work needs to be done! Funny asking where the sandwiches are at that break! As you get faster, anticipating what others around you are doing will come, tapping that dudes back wheel in the rock zone and tipping over, making those corrections before you get to that will happen. Keep it up, love the channel! Wish I lived in AZ!
