You're under assault by the Cultural Marxist Revolution, as was the free software community in the late 1990s and more recently Activision in the Gaming community. The Revolution began in the 1920s at the Frankfurt School, which reinvented the Marxist anti-capitalist agenda framing the system as poor vs rich, to a more general Critical Theory positing a 'victim' vs 'victimiser' ideology which is designed to divide every human from every other human. Essentially, the overall agenda is to replace majority values with minority ones, such as ANTI AI vs PRO AI. NaNoWriMo has been infiltrated by the Woke and forced to promote their agenda because no one was prepared to confront and expel them from the organization. NaNoWriMo is dead and is instead another voice for their propaganda. Pay attention to how it happened because your website is the next NaNoWriMo. You can run, but you can't hide. They will find you and attack you. Their goal is to destroy everyone's values, so you either submit and lose your identity, or resist and be cancelled. Your best defense is to know your enemy. It isn't a distraction, it is the war you have to fight because they are relentless. The two main systems they're employing in the economy (oh yes we don't have an economy any more) is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI, or as patriots say "DIE") along with corporate Environment, Social, Governance (ESG). Both of these systems are designed to hijack the economy, include their agenda/power into the Terms of Service, and ultimately control the world through trade. The good news is that the ideology is not based on truth, facts, nor reality - and they know it. This is the reason why they never make sense and always attack the person, never the argument. This applies to the gender 'war' on both men and women and why they need 'sensitivity readers' (community guidelines) to police your content and prevent you from exposing their propaganda. It is extremely important to recognize NewSpeak (1984) when you hear it. When it sounds like a duck, quakes like a duck, swims like a duck, and drowns its prey, it is an alligator, not a duck. Woke 'democracy','women','inclusion','diversity', and the rest of them, do not have the dictionary meaning. Make sure you clarify the meaning, and if they won't, you're dealing with an alligator, not a duck. Anyone who gets on your website and starts complaining/demanding 'more representation' should be immediately booted, your site's agenda is for writers, not the Woke. If you don't you'll end up like Wikipedia and NaNoWriMo among others. Yes, you have been warned. Be awake, not Woke. Do not give your power away to anyone on your website, the fight will be bloody. Always refuse to apologize to them, it is a death sentence. ===== Tier suggestions ============ 10k words == Tortoise (boat) (baby) (misty yellow) (diaper) 25k == Hare (car) (toddler) (hazy blue) 50k == Ostrich (train) (adult) (fluffy green) 100k == Cheater (plane) (flash Gordon) (dashing purple) (thong)😀 I would go with colors ....

This is perfect. I already realised that I booked a trip back home to see my Mum in November without realising it was NaNo, and then I discovered all the drama, and thought okay that is perhaps my sign that I don‘t need to worry about it this year, but I was a little bit sad. But 10000 words, I can find the time to do 333 words a day even when I am away. Thank you so much for putting this together. I don‘t comment often, but I have been following you from the start. We both met our husbands in Norrath, so I have to support you ❤

I would love a seasonal approach to the event. Once in Spring, summer, fall, and winter. this way instead of a month you would have 3 months to do a rough draft instead. this can space things out a lot more and gives people more breathing room

Love this idea so much! Seasonal ensures we’re all creating year-round, too, and gives people opportunities to join during whatever time of the year works best for them!

I am partial to this concept because I participated in one like this from 2012-2023 called Round of Words in 80 Days that went defunct last year after burning thru 3 hosts in about a decade. So if you were to try it it would need a community effort with members willing to take some tasks off the hosts hands. The benefit for me was in keeping me in goal oriented writing mode year around instead of only 30 days. I really miss it as my words went fallow after NaNo ended last year.

I love that everyone is creating their own writing challenge, and I want to join all of them! 🤣I want to get 100K written during Q4, and while I haven't been too invested in NaNo over the years, I do hate that it's gotten to where it is. Here's hoping all of our own challenges bear fruit and become safe havens for the writing community. Good luck everyone!

I actually love the word count tier labelled as a word count. It's clear and concise. I've only done NaNo one time, it's too much for my regular life and required a lot of planning to make it work. @@staceyshillingburg7966 And runs are not the same all the way to the goal. Sometimes you have an uphill battle. Sometimes you have a piece where you can sprint your way forward. You maybe meet a hurdle you have to overcome on your way, but you can always see the goal of “just x amount of words”. I love the idea of tiers as well! It's fun to have them named after book lengths (short story, novella, novel, epic story, etc). Thank you so much for this video, Sarra, I can't wait for November 😍 I don't care what NaNoWriMo is/was doing as an organization. For me, it was the challenge that united us in November. This year, this community let itself rip apart to pieces. Perhaps in a few years, there will be another main challenge above all these small ones. Maybe NaNoWriMo is still the main challenge. Maybe many people will continue doing it, disagreeing with what now seems like a majority. Again, thank you, Sarra, for everything you are doing for us ❤

You love dragonflies, and butterflies are pretty and similar so it could be a specific type of animal theme like that or just, be different animals-- like elephant for 100k, lion for 50k, dolphin for 25k, and dragonfly for 10k or something! It'd make the badges easier to differentiate as well as any goodies! Just a thought though-- I hope the building of it all goes smoothly, and I can't wait to start!! 😍

I ❤ this idea. I will be here, due to missing NaNoWriMo. Signed up and getting ready for it.

I have never done any kind of writing challenge before so I am super excited to try your new challenge.

I'm actually very excited for something different than nanowrimo. I just never got into the community there and this feels very refreshing and more fun. Thank you for doing this ❤

I'm glad you are doing something else because I just found your channel a few weeks ago and was looking forward to participate with your method, but then disappointed because I thought that, with all the mess that's going on, you might not do it this year. ❤

Love this. I didn't know about all the drama happening until today. I don't use the forums, and i stay away from drama but after watching some videos and seeing how they discriminate... I'm going to follow your challenge instead. Best of luck!

I love this idea. I've been struggling with the idea of a) letting NaNoWriMo go but at the same time b) supporting their new policies. This is a great compromise. And I love that it won't be tied to November!

I wrote a lot in April - July. Very glad tooo❤. I got a filofax notebook and it's amazing for organising my notes.

❤️ I like the name of the rough draft challenge I love the four tiers and the other times of the year plan. I have downloaded and printed my preptober planner and am excited to participate.

Such exciting news! I'm looking forward to participating ❤❤❤

I'd love for the tiers to have inspiring names. Like 10k could be "The joy of writing" so if you try for 25k and don't quite make it, you can say that you at least achieved The joy of writing ♡ I especially hope that the names won't make it feel like more words is better since the idea is to make it more realistic for some of us 😊 P.S.: I'm trying to write my very first novel and I'm really excited to try your challenge! I've been binge watching your videos for the past week and I love your energy so much 💜

Yes I totally agree with that! I really want it to feel like any tier is an equal accomplishment.

I love the idea of this rough draft challenge...im one of the ladies with chronic health challenges who tried nano but quickly realised that pushing myself so much was impacting my health. I need the gentle push to start writing again as i never finished my first novel. I also think doung this challenge at a different time of year would help as im always busy making Christmas presents or finishing up and wrapping them in November and December... i try to make as many as i can to keep costs down and to gently push me to keep practising my crafty hobbies during the year. Im saving up to be able to do hb90 someday, hopefully next year. Thankyou for uour encouragement to keep trying again, to do what i love. Blessings from South eastern Australia, Dot

I am REALLY glad you're creating your own thing and I will definitely be joining in! 💖 NaNoWriMo & the community on the forums were a big part of my life from 2007 to 2019, when they changed websites and I started feeling alienated from the community big-time (the new website was hard to navigate, & the forums were very difficult for ND people or people with disabilities -- when we spoke up about the issues, we were shut down and ignored). I still did the challenge in 2020-2023, and last year I made another attempt to really be part of the community *despite* my major issues with the new forums...and then everything exploded. I ended up creating my own challenge this month, which is a rolling, monthly challenge where you set your own goal / pace & can dip in and out whatever months you choose. I called it FerUnWriMo, which stands for Feral Unhinged Writing Month, as every month is FerUnWriMo for me, haha. I've got a channel in my Discord server, a Dreamwidth community, a hashtag, and we do monthly leaderboards on Trackbear. It's small, chill, and compatible with all other challenges, so I'll be sharing this video in the group to encourage them to join!

Very excited for this new challenge! I don't think I'll be able to be there live for the kickoff (I have work, unfortunately lol) but I will absolutely watch the replay and be there for Double Down Day!
