I can't believe how long this ended up being, haha, but I hope you find it helpful to get an inside look at my outlining process, step-by-step. Let me know if you want to see a video update when it's completely filled out, or if you want to see more videos on crafting your plot, pacing, and how to write a multiple POV book. Thanks for watching!

This is so helpful and informative! I was curious what your top clifton strength was? I'm writing a multiple POV right now, and also learning about the clifton strengths and trying to use the information to improve my writing. I am wondering if some of my struggles is not having thought through the multiple POVs enough before I started putting "pen to paper"

I'd love to see the video on pacing and the completed outline when you get it done. I really feel I learn a lot from your videos. And I love that you are so open about your process and how it's not always easy, and you have doubt and even have a mega successful writing career. It assures me, when I'm having doubts and when I'm struggling with character development for 2 weeks (as an example... haha), that it's okay.

Sarra, I just love it that you're not afraid to share your stories with us piece by piece! I would like to see exactly what a scene is, and exactly what a reaction is. I'm a visual learner so if you could mark in one of your books the beginning of a scene and the end, with the GMC marked in it would be awesome. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say! xo Marcia

You also mentioned that you are redesigning book covers for your series. Will you be willing to share your process? Sorry, that’s a lot of asking but you’ve demystified the whole writing and plotting and emotional side of the writing process. Made me realise that I am okay for having all sorts of weird habits!!!! This video has kick started my Saturday. The novel I am writing for NaNoWriMo only has 2 or 3 POVs at most. But the other two points of view are there to cover scenes where the main POV isn't present. You actually helped me adapt my editing process. It's not exactly the same, but I use a similar process. I outline a little differently, but what you said about outlining and then being open to change is very much how I do it. I know things are going to change and if something changes with the characters I don't want to dismiss it because it's not on the outline. I'd love to see more of your outlining process when you get a chance to go into it.

Loved this video! Yes please show us the final product. Really creative but productive approach to outlining. Right up my ally except for all the writing by hand. I use Scrivener and the note cards on there but I'm finding them very limiting in that I can't change the font type or color. I might have to hand write the cards the next time. I write romance so it's simpler just to use Romancing the Beats. BUT, I have a YA fantasy novel I want to write that will have more than one POV and this would be perfect for that. I'll have to find a way to type instead of hand write though.

Your system is so freaking neat! Just watching this video has gotten me excited about getting to work on book 2 of the Midnight Daze series. Jaime and I have started batting around ideas, and I have been itching to write! But I'm also looking to revamp my note-taking system. Like you, I have a color code for our POV characters, but the sheer amount of material I have stored in my OneNote file is getting overwhelming. I've set up a bullet journal specifically for the series that I hope will help me get some of this mess under control. My plan is to go through my OneNote file, weed out ideas that have gone stale, reorganize what's left in a way that makes sense to my brain, and go from there. I was going to create a series wiki using this file, but that project kind of fell by the wayside as life got in the way. I'd still like to pull that together at some point, but for now my focus is more on getting a grasp on what's happening in book 2. And to do that, I'm going to need to nail down some backstory that will likely either make an appearance or at least be mentioned in the prequel. Thanks for helping me get jazzed up about my writing again and giving me ideas for conquering my overwhelm! Good luck with NaNoWriMo! 😊
