Hi Lyn! Lovely Poinsettia plant...so nice to save it from year to year after Christmas! I only managed to save just one about 2 years ago, but unfortunately the following year it died off! They need time in the dark to flower! Thanks for sharing! Have an amazing evening Lyn and Hans! Lots of love and happiness!

Hi Lynn! Thanks for all the suggestions on how to keep poinsettias happy all year long. I kept mine from last year 2019. I am following your instructions and also Hans' guidelines from his informative video. My Euphorbia pulcherrima is happy and I cannot wait to see it bloom! Lots of best wishes to you and Hans.

Perfect timing. I’m replanting mine. It’s the first time I’ve been able to keep one alive through out the year. Exciting. Thank you ❤️. From Southern California

This ^ ..I have "just thrown mine away" every year bc I can't seem to keep it growing/ alive! After the holidays, like clockwork, most of the leaves fall off &so begins the ever losing battle, until the poor thing has clocked out. What am I doing wrong?! Lyn? It is such a shame, bc I always find the most GORGEOUS poinsettias in the stores around Christmas time!

So sorry to hear you have not had success with Poinsettia, it could be down to many things, like the lighting, the temperature, over or underwatering, not enough nutrients in the soil, etc so its difficult to say but its definitely worth trying again, XXXXX

Hello Lin!!! It's me again, here to pick your brain.... again. This time it is for the lovely poinsettias that I was able to keep alive this year. Only one of plants survived out of the 4 that were crammed into the one large pot. Not too bad, I suppose. It could be worse, I could have had zero success. The one I received from my Auntie is trying to send out yellow buds. I am hoping they are blossoms. I am quite pleased. Now my question...At what temperatures should I be wary of to bring them indoors? The overnight temps have been starting to dip below 10C. It's not that I have put all of my effort into their care. Just plenty of sunshine and keeping them hydrated. It is actually quite nice to see them as their home is at the side of the house where there is little happening. I believe the longer that I can have them outside the happier and healthier they'll be. Then they will hopefully survive another year. I think it is awesome that people are able to get multiple years of happiness from these gifts. XOXO for you and Hans. I truly enjoy all of the content you provide. And of course, I thank you in advance to your reply.

Hi Kris :-D thats wonderful you have the one Poinsettia as they can be difficult to keep going after the holiday season because a lot of them are grown on a large scale fast and fierce in nurseries under strong grow lamps just for quick growth and sell tot he xmas market and then they struggle to survive afterwards in our home environments even when given the perfect care

we have a poinsettia too, going on ,i think about 6 years old now. she is lovely, we call her stella. we love when she flowers red around January and keeps the color through till spring. the only thing that is difficult is the sap when the leaves fall. happy growing. Keep up the good work.

GREAT to see you as always!! I have a Poinsettia that has been growing all Summer in a South sunny window - and it is getting to the point now that I am trying to decide whether to try to start the "blooming" process. I have read that for about 2 months it has to have at least 12 hours of complete darkness. It would involve me putting a large box over it in the evening and taking it off in the morning - and being committed to that until you start to see some color. I would love to see it & it is something that I have always wanted to do - I probably will try it - life is short & it will feel good if I did it. lol HOPE YOU BOTH HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND OVER THERE :)
@desertplantsofavalon6 жыл бұрын
That would be fantastic if you trued that and let me know if it is a success as I know that its difficult to re bloom Poinsettia in normal houseplant conditions :-D thanks so much Annie for your wonderful comment and for watching and sending tons of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from across the Emerald Isle and have a fantastic weekend XXXXX

So I had no idea this plant was a Euphoria which I find pretty funny. hehe In my defense Im pretty sure ive never owned one. People never gave me them as gifts because of my cats. Good thin I guess because I probably would have assumed it was a tropical plant (back in the day before I researched everything ;) )

haha about your cats Denise :-D but I know that the milky sap can be harmful to cats and other animals and I have kept this plant inside the polytunnel because our neighbours adorable cat likes to chew on the plants haha :-D and I was worried that it would harm her if she chewed on this poinsettia
